Last week as I was looking at websites with book descriptions,  I saw a book that I thought sounded interesting.  Now I can not find the book anywhere.  Please help......

The book had the word angel or angels in the title.  It was about a man( a doctor) and his two or three sons.  He had just moved to a town.  A lady was the children's nanny.  The people in the town began to think somehing was up with the man and his children.  For some reason, I am thinking the author  was German.  Perhaps the book was set in Germany.  The cover was sort of gloomy..dark colors.  It was not a romance.  It gave me the feeling the man had created (?) his children. ( not procreated......lol)

Any help? I have searched the sites I usually visit with no luck.
