Hi,

My second post and I have to say I'm so happy I found this site!!

My issue is that I smoke. I've had about 2 people say they don't want books from smokers. No problem. I understand completely.

Is there somewhere on my profile I should list this so people who don't want my books (  :(  ) can bypass me so they reach someone else sooner? I posted a book which went on hold. After the hold was taken off, that's when I received the notification that this person doesn't want books from smokers. Seems like a big waste of time. My book could be on the way to someone else but of course, it's back on hold, again. Hopefully with someone who doesn't care that I smoke.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to PBS Virginia!

Because PBS works on the FIFO system (first in, first out...meaning, members go in line for wish listed books and move up once books are posted in the system) there's no way for people to bypass a particular sender. The best thing you can do is turn down requests promptly (which it seems you have done.)

You can put a note on your profile, bookshelf header and in your signature line.  But not everyone will see those.  If there is no RC asking for a non-smoking book then don't worry about it. If someone has an RC about smoking, decline for RCS and the request goes on to someone else. Easy peasy.

The info in your profile, shelf header and signature like will just alert other forum users and maybe someone who is ordering a book with differen editions available might order a different one if they see it.  So it doesn't hurt.  Just don't accept an RC for smoking because you put the disclaimer in there.

You do not have to PM people and let them know you smoke. And you do not have to refund a credit to someone who complains about a smoke smell unless you ignored an smokign RC.  The smoking RCS are one of the least annoying. I'd rather see that than one of the ones with a laundry list of demands that basically want a brand new book.

Thanks for the welcome!

And the information.

I suppose I was hoping there were some kind of automatic "decline" in place so someone could know ahead of time they wouldn't want my book. And it could be on it's way to someone else sooner.

 Thanks again, D.G.

Btw, How did you know I've been turning down requests promptly? As you can tell, I'm not very savvy on how the site works, yet. I assume that shows on my profile somewhere?

No, only you and the person that requested the book from you knows how quickly you respond to that request. I figured you were declining them promptly because you were concerned enough to post here. :)
