Help....I need shelled Brazil Nuts for one of breads that I make at Christmas.

They are very expensive, when I can find them already shelled.

It is a major PITA to shell them myself.  Does anyone have any tips for shelling them, that is not too hard/difficult/time consuming???

You can freeze them and then they are more easily cracked, or since you plan to cook with them, soak them overnight, drain, and pop them into rapidly boiling water for 5 minutes.  That will soften the shell and make it easier to remove.

Good luck!

Thanks, L.  I'll try both and let you know how they work for me.

L is right (I love brazil nuts) but they are such a PITA to shell, and things are so busy this time of year, I'll spring for the shelled, and say it's saving me so much time and aggravation!

L., I tried both of your tips, and the boiling worked wonders, it was as easy as peeling a hardboiled egg once I craced the shell.  This will be a tip I will never forget.
