My best friend is really worried about her kids having a good Christmas. She doesn't make a lot of money, and has 5 small kids she's raising with almost no help. Her kids like to read, so I'm looking for deals on books for them. She has two daughters 8 and 9, who love to read chapter books and twin 5 year old boys and a 4 year old boy who all really like science or nature books and regular kid books. If anyone can help me out I would REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks

Is there anything else besides books that they would enjoy?  We would love to help them have an enjoyable Christmas.

I don't have any kids books, but I gave you a couple of credits to help in getting some books for them. What a sweet thing for you to do.

I was wondering the same thing as Kim.  Is there a list of things that we could help with besides books?   Do you know what the 8 and 9 year olds are interested in?  More Junie B or Magic Tree House?

Oh wow! I know the kids would enjoy anything anyone would send them! Last year was a very lean Christmas and one of the twins asked his mom if they had really been that bad, and it was all I could do not to cry when she told me. I knew a lot of people offered deals on kids books on here, so I told her I would look and see what I could do. The boys are into regular little boy stuff. Cars and trucks. Monster truck things, Transformers and Toy Story. If it can get them dirty or make noise they're in love. LOL Any kind of kids books they would love as long as it's not about "sissy" stuff. The girls like Junie B Jones, Beverly Cleary, Judy Blume, I know they would love the Babysitter's Club books, any kind of books like that. They're girly girls. They love make up, jewelry, they also like to make necklaces and bracelets. Any kind of crafty stuff, they love. Thank you all for responding. I've found out that people on PBS are alway so kind and willing to help. You're all amazing. If anyone would like to help just PM me.

Thank you all so much!!

Panda,

Check my shelf, several kids books for all ages. Pick ones you think they'd enjoy and I'll send them to you, no credits needed.

I'm also going to buddy you some credits so you can check other shelves.

Thanks for doing this for them.

I have an extra copy of Advent Storybook.... which is a hardcover that has 24 stories in it.  One to read each day until Christmas.  They could do this as a family.   I will PM you and get it out to you so they can have it before December get here.

Panda,

Last year we had " Christmas Wishes" in the RAOK forum. Many members helped to make christmas special for some needy families. You should post there also!

Hey Panda,

I have some kids books on my shelf. Pick however many you'd like, and I'll send them all for 1 credit.

Also, if there are some books on others' shelves that you'd like for your friend and her children, let me know. I will order them with my own credits and have them shipped to you. Just PM me with your address!

Heather

I would really like to thank everyone for their help!! We are getting quite a few books and some other things for these kids for Christmas! I have been able to get a deal on the first 2 books of the Lemony Snicket "Series of Unfortunate Events" series and would like to ask that if anyone knows where I can get a deal on the rest to let me know! My niece Clara loves that type of book and we've also managed to find the First Spiderwick Chronicle book as well, and are looking for a deal on more. Also if someone has the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Harry Potter books in paperback please let me know if you will give me a deal on them, we got the 1st one in with another deal! Thanks you all so much for looking and helping!!!!!!!
