"Once upon a time there was a beautiful Princess and a handsome Prince who fell in love and were married at three o'clock in the afternoon in August.
Not even the wisest men in the kingdom had been able to foresee that the Prince and Princess would grow up to marry each other because, throughout his childhood, the Prince had been disguised as THAT STUCK-UP BOY ON THE NEXT BLOCK WHO THINKS HE OWNS THE WHOLE WORLD.
Because of this disguise the Princess had ignored the Prince until fairly recently, and had allowed herself to be courted by a series of Imposers who had diabolically represented themselves as True Knights. Among these were Sir Moose Minifee [a six-foot-three-inch tackle on the North Brattleboro High School football team], Sir Edouard Renaud [a young Frenchman encountered by the Princess during a summer tour of Europe], and Sir Dixon Mellish [a Phi Delt at the University of Wisconsin who later turned into a Venomous Toad]. Happily, however, in due time the scales fell from the princess's eyes, engraved invitations were issued, musicians were summoned, and the wedding guests assembled."
What a hilarious enjoyable read. Author, Irene Kampen, also wrote LIFE WITHOUT GEORGE, upon which the Lucille Ball television show was based.
