Harvard law proffesor , high powered attorney, with a national reputation, gets her world turned upside down when a burglary, and routine police investigatin reveals that her second husband tom isn't who he says he is.
I always like to read the book before I see the movie. :) That is why I read this book and I am glad I did. This book is very intense. I loved how the story was told and how the characters are portrayed. This book is definitely worth reading..especially before the movie. ;)
Good book! I didn't know until I began reading it's the book that a movie was based upon. I think the book is better.
This is my first Joseph Finder novel and I found it to be very interesting, full of surprises and intrigue, and I want to read more from him. While not your typical Who-Done-It, it still keeps the reader guessing and the ending is quite a surprise. Not too much blood and gore, or romance to distract from the plot. My only wish was that the author had seen fit to discipline the child when it was called for, otherwise, a good, quick read.
Claire Heller Chapman, a Harvard Law Professor and her second husband, Tom, a successful money manager lead a glamorous and happy life until a random burglary turns their world upside down. A routine police investigation reveals that Tom is not who he says he is. Claire learns that he once was a secret operative for the US government under another name. He is suddenly arrested and she puts her reputation as a high powered attorney on the line to defend him.
So, I hear that there is a movie out about this book. Anyone who has read a book then watched the movie already knows that the books are the best. So take a chance on this book. It's so riveting, I couldn't put it down. I loved each and every page. Kept me entertained til the end.
I skipped around and think the movie with Morgan Freeman is probably better then reading this book
Good book, better than the movie.
My first by this author and I'll be reading more. The story telling kept my interest. I normally wouldn't read a book involving military stuff but I found this book very compelling.
This book was made into a motion picture with Morgan Freeman and Ashely Judd.
Not as good as Paranoia or Company Man but still a decent read.
As usual the book is much better than the movie, but the movie was also awesome. This one keeps you on the edge of your seat!!!
Great thriller. Better than the movie. A must read.
"EXCITING...DELICIOUSLY ABSORBING...FULL OF HAIRPIN TURNS!" -The Washington Post

Loved the book and the movie
Great movie, awesome book.
Exciting story with a great finish!
I love this author - always extremely fast paced, always one twist after another, always exhilerating. This book was no exception to all that. A quick read, thrilling and enjoyable, now I want to see the movie!
DeMille is a good storyteller and he calls Finder a master storyteller and this book is right in there, especially if you like courtroom drama with mystery and surprize endings.
"Exciting..Deliciously Absorbing..Full of Hair-Pin Turns." Washington Post.
To save his life, attorney Claire Chapman must defend a complete stranger- her husband. Excellent book! Movie made from the book starring Ashley Judd & Morgan Freeman.
good book, with a very odd ending
Read like an action movie... not really my style. A little tough to believe, too. Not very realistic.
Police are telling attorney Claire Chapman that her husband is not who he claims to be. 13 years ago he had adifferent name and face. Now she puts everything on the line to defend someone she thought she knew. The stakes are higher then she could know.
I love Joseph Finder's books. This one was no exception. The story was fantastic not so much the narrator. For me, she just didn't do the story justice.
Star attorney claire Heller Chapman has known only love and respect from her successful husband. But now police are saying Tom chapma in not who he says he is. .. They claim he has a different face and a different name but he's the same man who committed a crime so heinous that only a madman would have committed it.
