Is this a mistake? I sure hope so..I printed out a lable, and the postage is $9.23 for a hardcover, being mailed media....I tried twice, and I know the book isn't over 13 ozs...I just mailed one out yesterday, being about the same size, and it was the usual 2.58. Anyone else run into this? Thanks...

Did you make sure the weight was right on the label page? Some books in the system are quite a bit off. If you have a weigh it and adjust the weight in the system. Otherwise its probably best to take it to a counter and have it weighed before you put postage on. (I am hoping that the lack of the PBS postage symbol under your name means you did not us PBS postage since that is not refundable.)

You're right Melanie, I don't use pbs postage, as my other half goes to the post office for work every day, so he takes my books...and I'm sure since he is paying, he'll check it out to make sure of the weight...thanks

I found one edition entered as 20inx20inx20in weighing 20lbs (thats one big book!) so I entered a data edit for it based on Amazon numbers. That should help on that one in the future.

If I had one like that to mail I'd probably send it Priority Mail Flat Rate.  The cost is about the same.  :)

Yeah you have to watch the weight that PBS has.  I find that if it's wrong it's usually high. It recently told me a rather thin paperback was over 1lb.  I highly recommend a scale to anyone who uses the printed postage. I'm not working right now and go to the PO.  So I don't weight them at home.  But almost everything prints up media mail on PBS and then the PO tells me 1st class is actually a little cheaper-so I know the weight is off on PBS.
