Philomena St. Vincent, Viscountess Benchley, finds herself locked in an asylum by her abusive husband. Rescued from the asylum but still wanted as an escapee by the police, Mena has no choice but to disappear. Her friends line her up for a job in Scotland, but she is a bit wary when she learns that she will work for someone who is known as The Demon Highlander. Lt. Colonel Liam MacKenzie has sent for an English Governess for his children. When Mena arrives, he sees a beauty who has clearly been hurt in the past. He knows he can protect her from whoever caused her injuries. What he doesn't expect is the way she helps him overcome his past.
The third book in the Victorian Rebels series is another winner. We have a hero and heroine are both wounded souls who help each other overcome the past. It has another great prologue that tells us what Liam's life was like as a boy. The first half of the book was a little slow to me. I kept hoping there was less description and more action. The second half was excellent and I couldn't put it down. My rating: 4 Stars.
