a fast-paced historical set in 1808 Scotland between an American girl and a Highlander. Fast-paced, witty banter...it's a fun read.

Scotland, early 1800s. Ending in London.
Good book. The heroine is strong and hard working. Although the plot was a little predictable, you root for her to come out ahead. The hero was interesting with revenge as his motive throughout the book which unraveled as he feel in love with the heroine.
This was written as a stand alone book, but I think I would recommend it be read in order. The ending had a return of all the previous characters which because a little overwhelming to follow as i hadn't read any other book from this series.
Overall, I would recommend it.

In the Highlander's Bed is a fast paced wonderful historical romance. Cathy Maxwell offers us a heroine who is by no means a damsel in distress and a hero who is deeply conflicted about the events unfolding in his life. He just didn't know it until he met her. Constance was born and raised in the Ohio valley of America. After the death of their father, she and her sisters move to London to reclaim their birthright as granddaughters to an Earl. Constance wants none of the pomp that comes with being a debutante in England. She longs for home and plans her escape from the school for girls that she has been forced to stay at.

Gordon Lachlan plans to kidnap Constance Cameron. Her brother by marriage, Duke of Colster, has in his possession a sword that belongs to Lachlan's clan, the Sword of the McKenna. Gordon believes that if he can get this sword in his possession, he and his clan will finally win victory over the English and Scotland will once again be theirs. Constance surprises Gordon by âjoiningâ his Cause and takes his small camp of clansmen by storm. She whips them back into shape and his clan is happier than they have been in months. What Gordon doesn't realize is that the sword will come at a much higher price than he realized. It will cost him his heart.

A/4 Romance: Hot

This is my first full length book by Maxwell. I have only read a short story before this.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was predictable but the characters made up for it. I found Constance's sister, Charlotte really annoying but other side characters really made up for it like Fiona, Grace, the dog, and Miranda. I adored Constance. She had so much spirit and confidence plus she was just really funny. She made the book.

Quick, fun read.

Good story very well written. First I've read of hers but I like the way she presents the story.
