The Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission is charged with administering programs which help to safeguard Rhode Island's cultural heritage. Community surveys are designed to identify and to record districts, structures, and sites eligible for nomination to the NRHP and to suggest priorities for historic preservation. Landscapes are one of the first groups of non-archaeological historic resources to be placed and understood in a statewide context.« less
