I like Andrea Pickens.  Her website says there will be another book in her "Lady Arianna" mystery series soon, too.

Me too, Terrie!  A Mystery at Carlton House (Captain Lacey #12 by Ashley Gardner aka Jennifer Ashley) is also available for pre-order (publication March 21) in paperback and multiple e-book formats (only $2.99 digital).

New series by the author of the "Doctor Thomas Silkwood" mysteries:   The Sixth Victim (A Constance Piper Mystery) :: Tessa Harris

And another new series, by the author of the "Lady Darby" mysteries:  This Side of Murder :: Anna Lee Huber (Verity Kent mystery, set in post WWI).  I don't think I have mentioned this one here before, but it already has 15 wishers.

I've also posted this on the e-book freebie forum, but just to make sure the historical mystery fans don't miss it- the most recent book in Tracy Grant's Malcolm & Suzanne Rannoch series is free right now. (the next one will be released in a few days)

A great deal, because these are usually pretty pricey. London Gambit(Book 11)

When you use the link, PBS ges to a split choice.  One is hardcover the other is paperback.

I chose the paperback, too.

I was very excited to find out that Jennifer Ashley(the one who writes the fabulous Mackenzie family historical romances) is starting a new Victorian mystery romance series. The first book is Death Below Stairs, release date next January, but there's already 15 wishers.

Blurb:

"Victorian class lines are crossed when cook Kat Holloway is drawn into a murder that reaches all the way to the throne. — Highly sought-after young cook Kat Holloway takes a position in a Mayfair mansion and soon finds herself immersed in the odd household of Lord Rankin. Kat is unbothered by the family's eccentricities as long as they stay away from her kitchen, but trouble finds its way below stairs when her young Irish assistant is murdered.

Intent on discovering who killed the helpless kitchen maid, Kat turns to the ever-capable Daniel McAdam, who is certainly much more than the charming delivery man he pretends to be. Along with the assistance of Lord Rankin's unconventional sister-in-law and a mathematical genius, Kat and Daniel discover that the household murder was the barest tip of a plot rife with danger and treason, one that's a threat to Queen Victoria herself."

That does sound very intriguing. I'm #18 on the list now.

Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the update, jayelsee. I read the first Lady Darby book, it was good but a bit dark. I will check out Rosemary Simpson.

Does anyone know how to correct the format of my posts?  I have no idea why but it seems like the right margin (wrap) is set to far to the left, and the edit notes, my signature (which I removed to try and fix this) appear next to text rather than below it.  This is the only forum this happens in and it's really annoying!  You can pm me if you know what I need to do to fix it.

(Edited)

OK, it appently has something to do with adding pasted text.

Hi Jayelsee....doesn't is just toast your cookies when something like that happens?  Remember an old saying: To err is human, but to really screw things up, you need a computer.  I think the people who write the programs don't try them out on the existing programs before letting them play together.  Only then do they find out, the kids aren't getting along!

Love and Happy Reading!

Don't worry about the formatting! I have yet to figure it out myself, but as long as we get the message about the books, I don't care what it looks like.

I just got this free e-book sampler with 3  novellas Past Crimes

There's a prequel novella to her new Victorian mystery series, called "A Soupcon of Poison", plus a short excerpt from the first full-length book in the series, "Death Below Stairs". I just read it, it was quite clever, and I'm hooked! The heroine is a cook, and there are hints of a romantic subplot in future books.

There is a prequel novella to another new mystery series Ashley is writing, set in ancient Rome

And there is a novella which is part of the Captain Lacey mystery series, "The Necklace Affair".

All this plus the Mackenzie historical romance books, she sure is a prolific writer!

Thanks for the heads up on the Jennifer Ashley freebie.  She certainly is prolific!  She also writes a supernatural series (Shifters Unbound) as Jennifer Ashely, and a couple of supernatural series as Allyson James.  I haven't read any of the supernatural genre, but love the historical and mystery ones.

Everything she writes is outstanding and written in a "different voice".  It's amazing.  I haven't read her Erotic series, but I really like everything else she does.

Thanks for the heads up. I love her Mackenzie series so I'm willing to try another of her "voices".  Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.
