Hits some points that don't get hit in some textbooks. The author is somewhat of a contrarian, he says several positive things about what many feel were our 2 worst presidents, Ulysses Grant and Warren Harding. If you think of politics as one-dimensional, he'd be considered a conservative, he doesn't have much good to say about any Democrat in the last 100 years, but I don't think he'd belong to the Tea Party.
