What YA books do you have on your holiday reading list? My finals are over next week and I am really looking forward to time to catch up on my reading. I'm going to be reading The Weetzie Bat books by Francesca Lia Block, Homecoming by Cynthia Voight, and a lot of new YA that I picked up at a FOL sale last month.

I'm also thinking about buying Rx. Has anyone read it?

I'm going to read the Midnight Twins by Jacquelyn Mitchard, Lush by Natasha Friend, Black Rabbit Summer by Kevin Brooks, and hopefully many more!

What don't I have on my reading list?

I'll be reading Paper Towns by John Green next Thursday on the plane to California, that I know for sure.

Paper Towns sounds really good, you'll have to report back and tell me what you thought of it.

I definitely will, Lacy.

I've loved all of John Green's other works, so hopefully this one is just as good.

I miss school holiday breaks. I am currently reading What Happened to Lani Garver by Carol Plum-Ucci. Really good mystery. I intend to read more by this author. Check Hidden Gems to read more of my thoughts on this book.

I recently picked up Witch Child by Celia Rees. I read Pirates! and was impressed particularly since it was a book I would not have normally read.

I read mostly realistic fiction so not sure if you'd be interested in my reading habits. I would recommend If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson and Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Bulter. Lighter fare would be Born Confused by Tanuja Desai Hidier or Does My Head Look Big In This? by Randa ABdel-Fattah

L,

I love all genres of YA including realistic fiction. I really enjoyed What Happened to Lani Garver and have followed Carol Plum-Ucci's works ever since. I will have to go to your Hidden Gems thread and read what everyone is saying!

I could never get into Witch Child :/ Which is weird because I love fantasy AND witch trial books. I've been meaning to read Born Confused for a while now, I will definitely have to look into it more.

I bought Rx today, it was on sale at a local bookstore and I couldn't resist. I am so excited to read it as soon as finals are over. :-)

Is the Rx you bought by Tracy Lynn?

If so, I read that shortly after it was released. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, but still enjoyed it.

Yes, the one by Tracy Lynn. I think I bought it because I really wanted to see the movie Charlie Bartlett but never did. :) I've never read anything by her before and when I read the preface yesterday I was a little worried by her references to her livejournal fans. . . lol

I love Carol Plum-Ucci. the first one I read was What Happened to Lani Garver, and after that I was hooked on her.

Talking about Carol Plum-Ucci makes me want to go reread The Body of Christopher Creed. That was the first book I read by her and it completely hooked me on her style and her twisty plots.

I'm halfway through Rx. Stylistically it's disappointed me so far. The author is trying way to hard to write like a 16 year old, and the result is that it feels fake.

Lacy,

What didn't work for you with Witch Child? We have Sorcesses, too. I thought I'd read them in order. I hope I can get through them. I enjoyed Pirates! which was a surprise because it was something I wouldn't have normally picked up.

Got sidetracked with the holidays so I haven't finished Lani. I also have Christopher Creed, too. I probably need to renew them. I am enjoying her writing style.
