One of the books in the Mitford / Father Tim series. I read all the books in the series and enjoyed every one of them. Light and easy reading with many heart warming stories 'within' a story about community, good stewardship, friendship, love and more. Not my usual genre but I enjoyed Jan Karon's writing immensely. All the books in the series made the rounds of my book loving friends, and we all agreed, we wish there was at least 'one' more to read.

"At Home in Mitford" is the first book in Jan Karon's series about the small mountain town of Mitford, N.C., and its Episcopal priest, Father Tim Kavanagh. Fr. Tim is 60-ish and his quiet bachelor life is about to be invaded by a new neighbor, a dog "the size of a Buick" and an 11-year-old boy, Dooley Barlowe -- not to mention a jewel thief living in the church attic. Once you read this, you'll want to read the rest of the series, too.

LOVE IT. I fell in love with this series from the very beginning. I have come to think of the characters as family, I care about what happens to them. I will be sad when the series ends.

wonderful, heartwarming story of a rector in a small South Carolina town. I hated for the book to end!
