The book deals with the relationship between homeopathy and other forms of medicine and with the more philosophical aspects of "The Organon" culminating in the need for self-understanding by the patient. Hahnemann was constantly concerned for the patient as a whole - not to be blinded by immediate symptoms - and in this way he was ahead of his time.
