I have downloaded this program and so far I'm loving it! I only have tha basic edition...NC doesn't require a lot of info from me:) However, does anyone else have it, and the Plus edition...just wondering what the merits of upgrading would be:)

I purchased HST+ this summer and I absolutely LOVE IT!  I didn't use the basic one long before deciding to upgrade.  My state doesn't require *any* info, but I'm a datahead and want it.  The main reason I purchased it, though, was because my son has two high school classes this year and I wanted a more official record for his transcript.  The past 5+ years I'd just used a self-made Excel spreadsheet.

HST+ is *definitely* worth the price.  You get *lifetime* updates for FREE.  Their customer service is outstanding and the best EVER from any company I've done business with!  They have an online forum for help, a 213 page user manual, and you can reach CS (the wife of the husband-wife co-owner team) via email, IM, live chat, etc.  You can also trade Lesson Plans (the heart of the program) with other members for free, as long as the plans aren't copyrighted, such as Sonlight.  Other companies make you pay for LP's.

I wrote on this forum last May asking for input, and then I think I made an update about HST+.  Search the archives and you'll see the info.  I also posted a long post to another forum...I'll see if I can find it and I'll copy it here.

You can use as little of HST+ as you want, or use all of the features.  I think  I use all but a few fields in my LP's.  You get a license to use it on multiple pc's in your home, which is nice.  We have ours on our network so DS and I can both access it from our pc's.  We each have a login.

I love the teacher's journal area, and DS is trying to remember to use the student one.  I finally have a place to jot down curriculum ideas, resources, etc.  The one thing HST+ doesn't do, that I wish it did, is allow you to attach files to the database.  Perhaps they'll come up with that in the future.  So if there's a file I want to add, I just copy & paste the info into a new header in the journal.  The reading log is sooooo great, too!

I was thinking of upgrading in a year or so. Right now the kids are in elementary school grades so transcripts and such are really not necessary. But, thank you for your input...I love this thing:)

I love both versions but plus is nice if you plan on using the same resources with each consecutive child since you can go back many years later and pull up your old lessons plans and use them all over again saving the time of planning it all out again.

Yeah, I have 2 kids, and I'll be saving materials for the younger one. A good thing to consider.
