Search - On My Honor

This is a sad, but necessary story about two boys and the foolishness of both accepting a dare and being the one dareing. I bought this for my preteen/early teen boys to help them to combat that male-ish pride that shows up at about this age. I'm sorry to say....but it's that "thing" in men that gets them accused of being "stupid-thing doers.
The story has a surreal ending that is not expected from childrens' books. And the author does an incredible job of taking you through the emotions of the surviving boy, his fear, and his guilt.
I recommend this book for boys, girls, and for parents awareness.

A powerful novel of a boy's struggle with conscience. I would recomend this read for every young reader.

During a bicycle trip to the state park, Joel dares his best friend, Tony to a swimming race in the dangerous Vermillion River. The boys have been warned never to go near the river but Tony can't let Joel think he's scared. Both boys jump in. When Joel reaches the sandbar he turns and looks for Tony and finds that he has vanished. Joel is stunned. How can he face their parents and the terrible truth?

To whom it may concerned, My cousin is finished with the book and she likes it a lot. I would anybody to read this book. that you your paperback friend karen.
