"The Hope Chest" is the 4th and last book in the series "Brides of Lancaster County" by Wanda E Brunstetter... a family becomes split after several challenging events... Will they all rejoin??? If you are interested in learning more about the Amish way of life... this is a must read...dg

I enjoyed reading this series but did find it lacking. It is not nearly as good as some of her other books.
Rachel falls in Love with Silas. Silas is in love with her older sister Anna. Anna tells him that he is wasting his time but he does not listen. Anna marries Silas's best friend Reuben who decides to go English. Anna tries to persuade Reuben to stay Amish but he does not want too. So Anna who has been baptized Amish is shunned because of her Amish baptism. REuben has not been baptized. Anna's whole family is turned upside down. Silas falls in love with Rachel but almost loses her because of his fear of being hurt again. Sadly, it takes a tragedy to re-unite the family.This is an excellent book.
