My boyfriend bought me a gift subscription last year for Christmas.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be renewing even though I love, love, love it. It will cost $50 dollars to renew. That's a lot for only 6 issues. New subscribers pay $35, I believe, but the renewal subscription price is more. Though, it still is cheaper than cover price (10.50 an issue, I believe)

Nope, my library doesn't carry it. My county system is very tiny with an even smaller budget.

I'm still trying to work out a way to resubscribe, though. It's a very vaulable resource for children's / YA literature.  I like to keep up-to-date on titles, as I will beginning Library school in January.

Janelle, I'd suggest you look into Adbooks for info on new titles. http://adbooks.org/  It's an email discussion group, specifically for YA lit, but they also discuss children's books as well.  I subscribed until I found that I just wasn't reading the messages due to time.

The general format is that there's a discussion of a certain book for a few weeks at a time.  One month of a year is an author study (discussion of all books written by a particular author) and around the start of the new year is Adbooks' own book award competition.  Year-round people talk about the new books being released, old favorites, and YA/children's lit in general.  It's a lot of email, but you can also get a digest of the emails or (I think) read the messages on the web site.
