Jeez, for the past few nights it has been raining  really hard and it it has been "pinging" off the AC unit in our room-making it very hard to hear anything else! Last night I woke up in the middle of the night convinced someone was breaking in our house.I even got up and peeked downstairs. Then I laid in bed waiting to see someones shadow outside our door.I got myself so freaked out that I dug out the baseball bat to sleep with beside the bed!! All I could think of was the Simon Clark(I think)  book where it rained an rained and the Laymon book where the group of sickos broke into peoples houses and skinned them!! For crying out loud I am a grown woman!! It's crazy what your mind can do to you when it's the  middle of the night!!!

Stacy, I feel your fear lol. I have a tree that blows a certain way against the house on windy nights that gives me goose bumps.    Amazing what  the imagination comes up with, especially when you don't want it to.

I know what you mean, I have never gotten on airplane and not looked out the window just to be sure there wasn't a gremlin out on the wing. That Twilight Zone episode has haunted me forever! Also, everytime I see a hitchhiker, the phrase "Thanks for the ride, lady!" pops into my head for no reason.

I havent gotten scared when reading a book, but boy do I sure dream about them. Especially zombie books, always dreaming how I'm gonna get away from the zombies.

When I read the non-fiction book about the real murders at the Amityville house (when the son wiped out his whole family while they slept), I had a terrible nightmare of someone going to each of my kid's rooms with a shotgun while I lay in bed unable to yell or move. When  I woke up I was so terrified that I had to accidentally "nudge" my DH awake - because at that moment it seemed so possible.  In the morning, I still remembered the dream but the fear of it happening was gone and it actually seemed silly to think it could.  It's amazing how the morning light can make such a difference.
