Illuminating, very human memoir of the author's time living in Vietnam. As a person who has lived in a different culture, I can attest to the reality of how it feels to be in a foreign land, but making it your own. Good read.
Well written, and reads like a good novel rather than a memoir or a travelogue. Chronicles some wonderful relationships. Gives excellent insight into Vietnam after the war and all the changes up to current times. You'll find your notions about Vietnam and its people changing as you travel with Dana Sachs.
