From the outside the McQuade family, Melanie, Tom & their two gifted children, appeared to be a slice of suburban perfection, So when their 10 year old daughter, an Olympic-hopeful gymnast, was found murdered, the family is living out its worst nightmare. Carolyn Slate is a promising writer in the psychological suspense genre.

First time reading this author.....really liked this book.....and as it says on the front cover:
"Some family secrets stay locked behind closed doors...."

As a previous reviewer mentioned, this book has overtones of the JonBenet Ramsey case. Fortunately, this story has a different outcome. It's quite a page turner and kept me reading to see if I was correct in my suspicions (I was). At different times throughout the book, I found myself siding with different characters.
There was some graphic description of sexual situations that I could do without, but all in all a great book that I'd recommend.
