I don't know if the title line was very clear, but what I'm wanting to know is if you post a book is there an easy way of checking how many books are posted ahead of yours?  Thanks!

The only thing you can do is, when you post the book, put it on your reminder list, and then go look and see how many copies there are in the system already.  If there are 100 copies, you can assume you will be number 101.  After that, there is no real way to know how close you are to making your way to the front of the FIFO line.

BEFORE you post a book, you can look the book up and see how many copies are already in the system.

but, like Amanda said, once it's posted, you can't tell how many are ahead or behind you in line.

So, how do I go about looking how many books are in the system before I post mine?  Help please! LOL!

Just do what Denise said....search for your book by the ISBN number, and then put it on your reminder list.  Go to your reminder list, find it, and it will tell you how many copies there are.

I understand, Rebecca. I am getting ready to move and am questioning packing up, moving boxes and then having to unpack boxes of books that have been sitting on my bookshelf for a couple years waiting to be traded. I'm thinking books for which there are multiple copies listed in the system I will just dispose of on a book exchange shelf or yard sale before I move. But it would be nice if there was a less tedious way of finding out which books are way back in the queue and which books I have listed that are at the front of the queue!

Well, I realized that the problem in doing it this way is that adding the books to my reminder list will only tell me how many books total there are in the system of that title--not where I stand in line. So wouldn't you know, the first book that I looked up and decided that I would get rid of elsewhere because there were multiple copies of just got requested! (Luckily, though I had prepared it for a bookcrossing release, I hadn't actually released it yet.) So apparently of all the books listed for that title mine was first in line! Now more than ever I wish there was a way of knowing where exactly our book is in the queue!

You can always send feed back through the link at the bottom of the page.  The more people who request a feature, the more likely R&R are to think about coding it in.

Robbie,

I just requested two books from you to make your move a little lighter.  I'll ask my MIL if she'd like any of the mysteries you have listed.  It's 8pm here and she's already in bed asleep so I can't call!  Of course, she wakes around 4am.

Rebecca,

I also ordered two books from you, too!
