I am awaiting arrival of 3 books. 2 from NY and one from TX.

Today I received a book from a man, Preston J______, in Florida. It is The Litigators by John Grisham. Idid not order this book. I have never ordered any Grisham books on PBS.

It came in a PBS printed wrapper with PBS postage and DC. It has a Request ID: 400195xxx. The man must have had a request as he printed the label. How did he get the label if I never ordered it. And, of course, I cannot say it arrived as there is no such request on my end.

I guess he could have used " send to a friend" but I don't know him . And if you "send to a friend" would not that show up on my page.

The book, incidentally looks brand new, It looks like it's never been opened.  No creases  on the spine.

I'll probably read it. I used to like Grisham until he became so liberal and anti-business. But how, pray tell, did it get sent?

After I posted this I read that the previous entry . Help with a wish list "hold" , had a similar thing happen. What is going on?

With Mail To a Friend and sending to anotehr PBSer, they do not see the request. Only the sender does.  The request ID doesn't match any others?  Like maybe he swapped out the labels and mailed your book so someone else?

As for the WL hold thing: the system assumes that you only want 1 copy of the book. So it puts the others editions on hold until you mark the books received.  This isn't full proof.  If it doesn't recognize another edition as being connect to others than it won't hold them.

You can't match up the Request ID to anything, but the site can, send that # in through Feeback and they can tell you want the transaction is about.

Well, that's the weirdest thing I've heard of here after being a member for over 3 years.  I have heard of people having multiple orders and putting the label on the wrong package so that your order goes to someone else and you get theirs.

I order for friends or my adult daughters sometimes and have the books sent directly to them, but I always notify the recipient to be on the lookout for XXX book and let me know the day it arrives and if it's in good condition(for a used book) since I still have to mark it received just like when  a book comes to me.

It sounds like the member mixed up two different labels for two different orders by mistake. Or reprinted a label from a past order and used it to mail the book. Do you have book coming from the same city and state currently? Click on the PM button to see if the name matches the name on the label.

The puzzle was: Why did the book come to me? Did he picl my name at random. Because, you see, I had no books due in from that person or from anywhere in Florida. He could not have nixed up labels as I did not have a book coming. And I could not PM him as I had no no record of a book coming. I even went to the member searxh and his name didn't come up. ( Some keep all information private.)

But Cheryl got me thinking. Had this person EVER sent me a book. I was afraid I might have to search mt transaction back several monyhs. But , lo and behold, there it was.  The fifth entry back. He had sent me a book a week ago. It doesn't answer all questions as I received that book several days ago and marked it RECEIVED. That should have been the end of the story,

He must have somehow printed two labels. I've done that several times when I didn't notice that the first copy had fallen on the floor. When I later discovered it I saved it for scrap paper. Maybe he did that and then grabbed the "scrap paper" in erro.

Well, now I can PM hi, from the earlier book

Do send in Feedback too Thomas, if the member seems confused and doesn't remember doing anything wrong. Just in case it is something wrong in the system.

Definitely send it in to feedback, they can figure out more in depth what's going on.  I had a similar issue last week.  Mystery book out of no where, haven't had an active swap in about a month, no request ID, PBS return address....no clue how it got to me or why.  PBS couldn't figure it out either, so perhaps there is some issue going on that they need to be aware of, they'll only know if weird stuff gets reported.

I'll just mention that someone posted in another thread that they received a similar "mystery" book and it was a blog prize from several months ago.  I'm not sure what that is, but is it possible the OP and Stefani's books came from that as well?

I did that once. I forgot a label at home and reprinted it at work to mail a book out. Then I mistakenly used the one at home thinking it was a different label. Luckily they were both game books and so the 2 receivers were very understanding. I just buddied the one a credit and sent the address for her to get the book to the right person.

Which reminds me, I just reprinted a label I left at home for a different book. I hope I remember to toss it out when I get home.
