I have 17 - is that a lot?  That means I have physicaly have them in my house and I want to read them soon ( in the next 60 days).  That doesn't count books that are  here and I might get to some day or books on my WL which will end up on TBR list soon.  Well, now I have to go and finish The Boleyn Inheritance so I can post it here and move on the next in line.

I have all of the books I own listed on a spreadsheet in the order I plan to read them - there are 204 unread books on my list.

Hmmm.... well, I have around 700 books total on my "will read eventually" TBR Pile. I generally don't think about what I want to read next. I like to wait until I finish a book and then go stand in front of my shelves and decide what I want to read next.

However, right now I have my next few books chosen: Goatsong by Tom Holt (an Interlibrary Loan so I have to read it soon), The Winds of Sinhala by Colin de Silva, The Romanov Bride by Robert Alexander. That is unusual for me.

WRE is a good way to describe my TBR of over 500 books and is my new favorite acronym. Thanks Jennifer.

I currently have 77 books sitting on my shelf waiting to be read.  I think the only way I'll get through that many books any time soon is to quit working for six months and do nothing but read!  :)

OK, I guess I won't whine anymore.  With my stack here and my WL I still have less than 100.  But I did do something really stupid.  I used a credit and got a book that I had already read because I wanted to read it again.  Well, tonite I was cleaning a closet looking for more books to post and guess what I found  - yup, my old copy of the book I just ordered.

You're welcome Marci! And to think, I just came up with that off the top of my head!

Thanks for making me feel better!  I probably actually own only 20 or so that I have yet to read.  My wish list here on PBS, not to mention the scribbled notes I have in my day planner of books that I hear about that sound interesting, probably put my WRE list at close to 200.

Anyone else wish they could quit their job and just sit and read all day?  LOL!

I'm ashamed to tell you guys how many books I have here to read! I wish I could say my huge TBR pile is because of PBS, but it isn't. I've always had a HUGE number of books. PBS has made me more willing to get rid of them once they've been read, and I post just about everything now.

As far as choosing what to read next, I'm a binger. I go on reading binges and read everything I can find on a topic when I come across something that really interests me. I'll read about that one specific thing...until the next thing catches my eye and then I'm off on another binge. It's a terrible cycle, lol.

Valli,

Binge reading - that describes exactly how I read.  Awhile back I was into 'escaping from polygamy' books.  I read 4 in a row.  When I joined PBS those were the first to go.  Now I'm in the 16th century with the Boleyns and the Tudors. I think next I'm going to move into mid 20th century Yorkshire and read the bio of James Herriot.  I loved all of his books and his son wrote the bio.  Although I still hear the Tudors calling me.  There's just not enough time.

I'm pretty sure I don't want to count.

Donna, Binge reading. I love it! Thanks for labeling my sickness obsessiveness fun! LOL!

The question for me is how many bookcases are in the TBR pile. Currently the answer is 2 1/2. But give me another month or two, and I'll bet I can get it up to 3. (-:

I don't know how many books are in my TBR pile because lots of them are stashed in boxes and bins around the house, and only some are on bookcases.  My justification for accumulating so many is that someday when I retire and have less disposable income, I will have all these books stored up that I won't need to buy.  Kind of like the squirrel accumulating pinecones for the winter mentality.

OMG- I just looked back to when i last posted on this thread 3 months ago and said I had 77 books to read.  I have over 150 now.  How did I double that number in the three months time!?

Holly - Funny how that happens, eh?  LOL!  I'm in the same boat!

Claudia - I agree with your "squirrel theory," but my fear is that given my propensity for a short attention span, I'm worried that the books I accumulate now will hold no interest for me when I'm retired.  I'll pull one out and go, "What the heck did I want to read this for?"  LOL!

When I started this thread I had 17 and thought that seemed like a lot.  Now I have around 80 and continually adding to it.

I think I have around 10 books in my TBR pile. But there are many more books on my shelves that I haven't read yet and plan to read someday...

Donna, I'm with you.  Since I've joined this site only a few months ago I'm now up to 77 in my TBR pile (and if everything on my WL came in, I'd double that number)!

about a hundred on my WRE list...but it's hard....i'll see something about a new book, or an old book someone recommends or is talking about that sounds intriguing....and well, Mt. TBR just grows and grows and grows....

I have 61 books in my TBR pile and probably another 25-30 TBRs from other places just piled up around here. It's nice to finally have something to read whenever I want...love this site!

I have 32 on my shelf right now with a few extras brought over by daughter #2 who got me hooked on this site.  That also doesn't count some of my favorites that I re-read occasionally.
