This may be a completely newbie question and when someone gives the answer, I'll go a head smack but....when looking at someone's bookshelf, how do I find if they have historical fiction on their shelf?  Which answer under "genres" do I use?  history?  romance?  or do I put "historical fiction" under keywords?

TIA

H/F is found by first sorting for "Literature & Fiction",  "Genre Fiction", and "Historical Fiction".

I don't think the Bookshelf sort goes all the way to the H/F category though. i think it stops at Genre Fiction, so you'd have to look through all of the Genre fiction to find H/F.

Besides what's suggested above, I take time to read what others are reading about once a week or every 10 days.  When I see lots of good reviews I put that book on my list and look for it.  I did discover when I first found this group that I already read a lot of historical fiction.  Also check the book sites for reviews, etc.  Now I have a whole box of HF books to read beyond my reading challenge.

Thanks for the help.  I'm fairly new to the h/f category.

Actually "Romantic Times" is the one that got me thinking "what is this stuff?"-they put "historical fiction"-labled as such in their "historical romance reviews" and that's how I discovered some of my favorite h. rom writers were writiing h/f.  Now, I've got a fairly good size pile-and w/l of course!

The price is more than a bit of sticker shock-but then I'm a woman who remembers paying $2.50 for Regencies....sigh.....

sometimes I just go into the Tag cloud and click on Historical Fiction and surf around---you'll know what's posted just not necessarily on whose bookshelf
