I saw a 4-1 offer on Historical romances.  I went to the book shelf of the person listing the offer.  I ordered two books and then sent an e-mail to the seller of the first book telling them the other books I wanted.

Today I find that the two books I ordered (from the bookshelf of the person offering) were entered into the system from different sellers.  I ended up in sending the PM about the other books to the first book and that person was not the one making the offer.

How could that happen?

You did not click the Order This Book button that is on the member's bookshelf page. You clicked on the books' titles and brought up the detail pages and then you ordered from there.

Cathy is probably right.

Also a possibility - do you have RCs?  It is possible that the person felt they could not meet them and so turned down your request.

I am fairly sure that's not what I did.  Oh well, one of them I was able to cancel.  The other is already shipped so I'm stuck losing a credit.

I've been thinking about this and it's possible that I did click on the book links rather than the "order this book" link on the bookshelf.  Which brings me to an improvement they could make on this site, since I am surely ot the only person who has ever made this mistake.  I think that when you are on a bookshelf, the link to the book should take you to a generic page with a description of the book, not to where you can order the book.  That would prevent people from accidentally ordering a book from a different seller.

I always right-click & open a new tab to see the book details.  I close the tab after reading about the book if I'm not interested; I leave the tabs open when I've decided to order/add the book.  This way the original order page stays open & the Order More list can be updated if any additional books are found.  When the order summary pops up, I compare against the titles in the open tabs of my browser. :)

Well, given the fact that you're told if you are ordering specifically from someone, I don't think they need to change it. Just, if you don't see a message saying you're requesting from (enter name here)'s bookshelf, you know you did something wrong.

One feature they DID add to help this problem was the hover-text.  If you go to a member's bookshelf and hover the mouse pointer over the book picture, a description of the book will appear.  So you no longer need to click on the book link, and thus be removed from the member's shelf.

By the way Kate, are those pics of your dog? If so, he's SO adorable. Would you be terribly upset if I doggie-napped him?

I do the 2nd window thing.  I also hit the Order More From Member button to make sure the name matches before I confirm the order.

He would be upset if you dog-napped him.  That actually happened to him recently.  He was out front doing his business and I ran to the bathroom.  When I came back he was gone!  I mean gone poof.  I looked all around the neighborhood and so did my neighbors.  Five hours later I heard his toenails on my hardwood floor.  He had come in through the dog door in back.  This can only be accessed from my back yard which is surrounded by a picket fence.  Someone actually brought him back and put him in the back yard.  The poor guy sat on my lap shivvering for at least an hour.  And he refused to go out front for about a month.  He was really traumatized.  I can't understand why anyone would dog-nap your dog out of your front yard.  All I can think of is that it was someone who thought they were teaching me a lesson for leaving a dog unattended in my front yard.  Nevermind that they would have had to come up my driveway and around a fence to get to him.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think your poor dog may have been abducted by aliens.
