For the last couple of weeks before Christmas, there have been about 300 free ebooks offered on Amazon every day, and so far about 300 for these last three days after Christmas. I have no idea how long this will all last! (I think the big numbers started 10 Dec.)

How many have you all snagged? I've been mostly looking at Thriller/Action/Suspense and Mysteries, with a few Fantasies now and again if they grab my eye. Even Romance, Scifi and a Novel once in a while. I've been avoiding Erotica (unless it's m/m), Children's stories, Young Adult, Cooking, Religion, Self-Help, weird listings or Politics. And I tend to avoid anything under 200mb since I'm not a short story fan. (Unless the description just says it sounds good.) And if I see any one-star ratings along the way I don't bother.

At about average of 300 per day, I'm thinking is about 5,400 offers. Of those I've picked out about 560 ebooks. I figure even if I find I don't like 3/4 of those, I'll still have 140 I might enjoy. I had four of my Amazon WL books show up free.

Anyone else diving in while they're free? Think New Years will be the day it dries up?

I was picking up everything. Then I started being much more selective, especially about the self published books. Already have way more than I could read. Now I check for publisher or reviews. Had some self published books that the lack of editing made me cringe. Of course I've had some big name publishers that the lack of editing pissed me off. (Hear that Lori Leigh and LKH? Editors ARE important!)

I've gotten hundreds, including cook books, kids books, YA, lots of romance , a few thrillers, and some erotica (I go through the list at ereaderiq and sometimes the genre is not right). I'm sure some are duds, but I have gotten some that look really good.

I figure probably quite a few of them are probably crap, but they're easily deleted.

I just hate to pass up anything that sounds good, because I've found a couple of series I just love with indie authors. Since I've read tons of fanfic over the years, I guess I'm just used to jumping in and jumping back out quickly if things aren't going well. I don't waste a lot of time on the bad ones. I've found some fanfic author's in Fanfic I'd follow to the ends of the earth if they'd just keep writing, so my hopes for these freebies are probably pretty high.

Hope we all find some Gems in these!

I've gotten over 1000 now, since collecting them for the past year. However, I found out only a few weeks ago that the ONE source list I was using to alert me of free Kindle books, BooksOnTheKnob.com doesn't list ALL the free Kindle books each day. The day I realized this, there was about 40 other full length, free Kindle books, just in my genres alone, that she hadn't listed. That happened another 5 times since then. In that time I have picked up about 400 free Kindle books she hadn't listed.

I have probably missed several hundred other free eBooks, because I was just going to one site listing what I thought was a full list.

Although, with 1000 eBooks now, I think I'm going to go back & prune through some of them. I used to take them even if they were remotely something I would read, because they were free. But, I don't want to be sorting through a whole bunch of awful books when I am in the mood for something, just to find a good one. I want to know I can choose any Kindle book in my collection and it sounds like a really interesting read.

EveDallas try this link

it says it updates hourly but I haven't seen evidence of that. I just check it every 24 hours.

I'm suscribed to us.kogrid.com but usually just go to the web site. It's -huge- since they put all the books on one page. (Wish they didn't, but there you go.) But you can turn the covers on and off.

If you have a slow connection, you probably don't want to mess with it. But if you have a high-speed one, you can just keep scrolling down backwards through the end of August.

But you can usually just use the email link if there's less than 100 each day. They're limited to 100 links through email.

I do ereaderiq as well. I've been pretty good about not going overboard on the freebies.  I got my Kindle about a month ago. The first few days, I was downloading every free book that looked remotely interesting.  But when I saw how quickly they add up-I started being more selective. Now I just troll the lists for author's I've heard of before.  I still download some that I had never heard of before not that many.  It's just makes too many to have to deal with on my device or my Amazon account.  I have 300 total items on my Kindle.  About 50 of those are samples, cookbooks and word games. Another 30 or so are ones I bought.  So about 200 freebies.  I read one freebie yesterday and deleted it. It was OK. I was glad I didn't pay anything for it but I didn't hate it either.

There are several ebook/kindle related groups on goodreads.  I joined a few of those and check the posts there. People will frequenty posts links to deals and freebies.

I find, though,  that most of the cheap/free ebook lists have pretty much the same books listed.

Yes, eReaderIQ is the list I use now. I still go to BooksOnTheKnob first, as I don't have to click on the books to read descriptions. Plus, she lists free non-Kindle eBooks, too. So I may pick up 5-6 eBooks. Then I head over to eReaderIQ and end up adding another 10-30 more full length Kindle books. Amazing!

I'm not sure if eReaderIQ updates hourly, but once I was there and a lot of Kindle books must have just gotten their prices adjusted to full price, as I clicked on about 7 of them at full price. I didn't want to weed through to find out which ones were still free. I left the site & came back a couple hours later and the site was updated & all the full price books were gone.

I had way too many already and I added more the past couple of days. Holy cow, it would take me years to read all my pbooks and ebooks. It's gotten so bad that I plan to unsubscribe from the eReaderIQ daily email. I spent some time today archiving some of them because my poor Kindle was slowing down. After purging about 300 books it's back to its zippy self. Is there such a thing as a Book Hoarders Support Group? wink

I just scan the lists for author names I recognize.  Helps keep the downloading under control.

I'm very picky about what I read so I don't find a lot of freebies that I want. However, the past week I've found around 15 books under 2.99 (most free) that sound really interesting. I'm pretty excited since that should last me quite a while!
