I'm not an Amish book fan so finding good Christian authors (specifically chick lit) that aren't super cheesy can somtimes be difficult.  I often find books by new to me authors that I don't know how to tell if they are Christian or not and I'm wondering if there's a website that will tell me about a specific author. Even searching by book title would be helpful.  I've been told christianbook.com is the best resource but on more than a few occasions I've searched for authors/books that I know are Christian writers only and haven't found them.

Any help is appreciated!

I often look for the publisher.

You said you are looking for chick lit? Have you tried Kaye Dacus, Janice Thompson(Also writes as Janice Hanna), Rachel Hauck, Christine Lynxwiler, Sandra Bricker, Jen Turano(historical but pretty funny), Denise Hunter, Lisa Wingate, or Sandra Byrd? Those are just some of the ones I can think of that I might put in the chick lit realm.

My first clue is the book's publisher.  The most profilic publishing companies for Christian fiction include:

Abington Press
Barbour
Bethany
Harvest House
Thomas Nelson
Tyndale House
WaterBrook Press
Zondervan

An amazing array of Christian fiction (CF) books are currently available;.some authors will suit your taste more than others.  PBS and Amazon are great sources of reader reviews.

The publisher--duh!  I can't believe that never occured to me.  Thank you both!

Charity, I like Rachel Hauk, Sandra Bricker and Christine Lynxwiler, but I've not heard of the other ones.  You rock! I also like Kristen Billerbeck, Tamara Leigh, Laura Jensen-Walker.  I have a Karen Kingsbury book my SIL gave me that I haven't even looked at yet.  I know a big chunk of hers are Amish but are they all?

I love Karen Kingsbury's books but they are very emotional. They deal with a lot of family matters so keep tissues handy:) I don't remember her having many about the Amish.

I have read a couple by Kristin Billerbeck but totally forgot about her when I made my list. I think Lisa Wingate, Janice Thompson and Denise Hunter would be along those same lines.

Have you read Smitten and Secretly Smitten? They are like 3-in-1 stories but were well written and Kristin Billerbeck is one of the authors.

And I thought of a couple more. Deborah Raney, Diann Hunt, Trish Perry, and Deborah Bedford. Elizabeth White did a couple that I would consider chick lit but some of them are more historical. Oh, one more thing is the Love Finds You series. Some of them are dorky(if that comes across right) but some of them are pretty good. You just have to pick and choose with them. I try to get them out of my library before I buy one as I have read some pretty bad ones.

Hope that helps some:) I have read most of the books by these authors and they are ones I really liked. I personally love Rachel Hauck's books and they always make me smile. Let me know if you need any more help at all.

Just curious but what authors did you look for and couldn't find on christianbook?

I don't read chick lit type books so no help there.  I have heard of most of the authors listed above though.

Kregel Publications and Marcher Lord Press are a couple of other Christian publishers, maybe not for Chick lit type books though.

Harlequin also publishes their Love Inspired Christian books in both  contemporary and historical. Another would be Crossings Book Club books.

Alice Wisler is another good chick lit...although she might be more "women's fiction" than chick lit.  I think of chick lit as having more humor and women's fiction being more serious.

Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors and I've read nearly everything she's written and not one of them is Amish fiction.  You may have her confused with another author.  As someone mentioned, they are all very emotionally charged though.  Sometimes I just have to take a break and read something lighter.  Kristen Billerbeck is an author that writes what I'd call Chick-Lit "with a message."  I like Diann Hunt a lot too.

I started reading a book about the Duck Dynasty family;  knowing of their devout faith, I assumed it would be a christian reading book, but not according to PBS;  going to check christianbooks.com

They are listed on christianbooks.com ..............These books are The Legend of the Duck Commander and Happy, Happy, Happy.....My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander........
