On the new home page, it tells you what books your friends are currently reading. Where does that info come from? I can't think of any way that PBS would know what I'm currently reading.

Mine shows the books I recently received through PBS.

Mine had books I'd recently ordered as the current books reading.   Some of the other catagories looked as though they were guestimates, my favorite author was listed as Eric Carle a childrens book author...

Mine had a book with the same title as a recently received book.  But a totally different book.  I received a YA paranormal book, while a serial killer book was shown.

I think the favorite author was based on books that we have received more than one by the author.  Mine was showing 4 children's book authors.

I don't  know how they came up with the author.  The one they had picked for me was an author that I own 1 book in my TBR and have only read one book by and neither were traded through PBS transactions but in the games forum.  It's like they randomly picked an author from my TBR and it just happened to be someone that I only own 1 book for at this time.  I have other others for which I own several.

The currently reading books were like my last 5 books ordered.

The settings were all pretty easy to change except for I can't get it to bring up the right book for one of my favorite books. It brings up a different book with the same title. I haven't tried using a ISBN though.

Yes, the changes are easy to make. I'm guessing they were simply randomly generated. Just something to fill the slots to give an example.

Mary, use the ISBN #. That works.

I've had a lot of fun filling out some of the lists and adding my favorites. I'm going to have fun going through some peopl'es lists and favorites as well. Lots of good reading ideas!

I think that bites. They should have a place you can fill out what book you're currently reading, if you want to, rather than some guesswork nonsense.

Willa you can select the books you want to show there. It is on your Profile page. If you haven't done anything with that section, the system does some guesswork. All you have to do to make it accurate for you is to go to your profile, delete the incorrect books, and then add the ones you really are reading right now.

This whole new thing is bizarre. Nothing is right. One book I'm "reading" I read nearly 2 years ago. If they're going to continue with this stuff there should be some kind of optimum date, like no more than 6 months ago or whatever. I reset all the new good stuff and it kept defaulting to THEIR defaults.

The choice should be that we can ADD new features available - not have to struggle to change them back to what we want.

They just filled in the blanks to provide an illustration for us.  No one has to keep what they filled in - I certainly didn't...  Just go in and use their info as an idea of what should be in that section, then customize it for your own self.

OOPS!!!   Guess what - I went back to the profile page and found that my changes did not "stick"!!!   Darn - guess we have to give them time to fine tune things.sad D.

You must tell the system which books you are actually reading. By clicking on the 'Edit' button, spaces will show up which you can fill up with the books you're reading. But again, use the ISBN because if there's another book with the same title, it's bound to pick up the wrong book.

However, there seems to be some glitches at the moment because I clicked on my 'Favorites' to try to see what buttons come up and when I clicked on 'Done', it changed some of my books to others totally different.

My changes aren't sticking either. All of the information--what I'm reading, favorite books, favorite authors, etc. are all WAY off...except wishlist books, which it obviously did choose right from my WL, so it can't go wrong. LOL  I changed the other categories twice and so far it just reverts back. Guess they are still working on that?

I was able to put in the book that I am currently reading by hitting the "edit" button.

It kept everything I imputed.  For the WL it's using my most recently added book. Which is an old out of print book so if someone happens to see it and posts that would dandy with me.  I  think I'm the only wisher.

I really love the new feature. It has kept my actual info after I entered it. I think it's an easy way to customize your profile, plus it kind of lets you know if you want to spend too much time looking at that PBS member's books. Can't always tell a book by the cover though, lol!

I went into my Privacy Settings and set everything so no one else can see it.  Don't have time to do lists and keep up with them.

It kept all my info as well. I'm still doing just fine.

For the life of me I"m not getting the hate and controversy over the changes and the fact that PBS randomly slotted books in categories. Just change them. I mean, honestly, it's simple. Or I guess it will be, when PBS fixes some of the glitches some of you seem to have.

I think those people who don't like changes are jumping on the "I hate" bandwagon with out actually looking at the changes. I mean, it was very clear to me from the get-go that these were simply randomly selected books and they were meant to be changed, altered as we see fit. But then again, I was open to the changes. I like what they did.

If you don't like the changes set the privacy settings to only you being able to see them and don't use them.

For those complaining about glitches. These are computers. There are going to be glitches. I'm just not getting the "hate" I've seen from a select group over and over here and on the CMT thread.

I think it has to do with mindset. And I"m sure that's my very unpopular statement.

Susan, I agree with you.  They did a fair enough job just showing us all samples so we could take it from there.  I think it's great!  Glad to know I'm not the only one with the glitches, though.  Hate to think I have to look up & type in all those ISBN numbers.  I just plan on waiting awhile to see if it will come around in a few days or something.  No worries for me - like you said, what's not to like?
