I'm a new member as of two weeks ago and I've already sent out about 8 books, 4 of them have been received to sender and the other have not. Do I have reason to worry just yet? It's only been a 11 business days. I live in Wisconsin and I saw posts about how the PO will open media mail to "check" it. I'm probably just worrying prematurely.

I've received my book requests within a week. I know it matters all on what state they are coming from.

If you look at your Main Account page and the tab "Books I've Mailed", it will tell you when the expected arrival date is estimated.  The books will be considered "Lost" on that day.  Until then you just have to sit and wait, as it clearly states to not contact PBS before that date.

It also matters what other mail is out there.  The media mail is the lowest priority, the PO has the right to put it aside if there is more "important" mail.   Or bad weather.  Or bridges out.  Be patient.   First class, such as small paperbacks and kid's books, move fast.  Media mail goes when there is space.

Thanks for clarifying. This site is great but a bit confusing at times.
