From the HELP DOCS

A simple message to us with the request to close the account is all that is needed.

  • There is no minimum number of swaps necessary before an account can be closed.
  • You can easily suspend your account temporarily by putting your bookshelf on hold.
    • This will not put club emails on hold
    • This will not affect ongoing (already active) transactions
    • This will not affect Box-O-Books; Box-O-Books needs to be paused separately.

The reason a member cannot close his or her account automatically is because we have to check for outstanding requests. It would be unfair to other members to leave items incomplete. Once a member requests cancellation, we close the account and handle outstanding items.

If you close your account and wish to have it reopened later, just send us another message.

Why leave? Even if you don't use your account very oftrn it is still fun to check on things and search for books. And if you like to read it is still cheaper to get a book here once in while than it is to buy it.

And with gas at $4 per gallon, even a trip to the library costs something..

If you still have credits, you don't want to leave until you've collected on them.  Like people say, put your bookshelf on hold (or delete the items, but then it is a lot harder if you change your mind).

Hi, I cannot afford to send books at the moment either so I just have nothing on my shelf. I always check to make sure the books is WL or not before posting it.

You can also put it on hold.

Same here.  And most of my huge wish list is on hold too.

Hi Deborah,

I'm sorry to hear that your thinking of leaving PBS. You could just put your books on hold and maybe just keep in touch with friends by PM. It doesn't cost anything to do that. We can never have enough friend's just to reach out and say hello and see how your doing. I hope you change your mind and just put your books on hold.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

Cyndi  wink

Me too.  I'm on "vacation" more than I'm off.  But the OP doesn't look like they use the forums much so for them it may just be simpler to close the account and use the library.
