I thought I requested a book, but haven't gotten confirmation that it has been accepted.  Can i find that anywhere in my account information.  I don't want to order it twice.  Thanks.

The requested book should appear as an open order on your My Account main page, probably as a "Book I've Requested", waiting for member.  Orders are sorted by where they are in the process, with the ones we need to take action on being placed in the front.

Thanks, Emily.  So if it's not listed there, is it just in the back of the PBS action needed list?  And if so, how long should I wait to request it again, assuming I messed up?

If there are any copies available, the system will continue to request the book until it gets a copy for you. Make sure to check all of the tabs on your My Account page requests could show up- Books I've Requested, EnRoute To Me. If the sender cancelled, it should just roll to the next copy available. If there are no copies available it will be moved to your Wish List or Reminder List (you get an email if this happens).

You can go to your Credit Registry and look at the action on the book (click the blue linked word Credit in the upper right corner) or look in your Transaction Archive.

If the book is not on your My Account Page anywhere and you don't see any action about it in you Credit Registry, then something happened and a request didn't go through. You can request it again.

eta: your request is accepted by the system immediately. The sender can have up to 5 days to accept, but it is possible to go through multiple senders before you find one that accepts if it is a book with a lot of copies available and inactive members have it posted.

There was a time period when the order was hidden for an hour, but this was from the sender, not the requester.  Books for auto request orders would have been in limbo for one hour, where they did not show up as a WL hold.  Not sure if that still happens or not, as the system has had updates since then.

The hour "buyer's remorse" period is still in effect, but as you said, it's an hour delay before the sender sees the order.  The requestor can waive the hour delay by sending a PM to the sender from the transaction box.

And Anita, I can't picture what you are looking at when you say "it's in the back of the PBS action needed list."  I haven't seen that notation.  Can you give us more details?

I think my description of the tabs was at fault.  I'm trying to describe a visual, and Anita is not seeing it.

On our own My Account main page, PBS automatically sorts the tabs with the ones we need to respond to in front.  So the tab where we need to accept an order or agree to mail are placed in the front.  (Not PBS, but our own.)

After we respond, tabs are sorted by how far along they are in the process.  Tabs of mailed books will be farther over, as if behind the other tabs.  The tabs show as if folders in a file, with ones needing action at the front, ones in the mail at the back.

Of course, this only shows if you have orders in different stages.  Only one order, then only one tab.

I have had books I ordered not go through for some reason.  If you don't see it the book order on your main account page, it is possible the order didn't go through for whatever reason.  Carefully check each tab there, and if it's not there, you can safely reorder.

Anita might check to see if it rolled over to her wishlist, it might not be available?

You can try to reorder the book.  When you do -- if you have already ordered it the system will give you a pop-up saying "You Already Ordered the Book".  At that point you'll know it and can cancel the second order.
