A person "advertises" a deal in the Book Bazaar. You take them up on their offer and then you don't hear back from them for over 24 hours. Do you cancel or wait it out? I ended up cancelling on a deal - I've never done that before. She never returned to the thread and I never heard from her - the thread is on page 3 now.

I do a fair amount of deals and if I'm going to put one out there I do it at a time where I can be responsive THAT day to those requesting books from me. Is that an odd way of thinking? Or do most people feel that way?

I certainly agree with you - if I'm going to give a deal, I'm going to wait around to answer inquiries.

that was rather odd, maybe something happened to her?

I too would have cancelled when you did, if she didn't reply in the thread to say she had your order but wasn't accepting until later or something then I'd wonder what the heck happened

Well they have 5 days to respond.  I might have given them longer but cancelled the request before it got passed on to someone else who wasn't offering a deal.  I agree though that if you are offering a deal in the bazaar you should be prepared to check your account often to remove books that have been requested as freebies.  This helps avoid multiple people asking for the same freebie.  I PM'd someone about a deal w/the book I ordered and the freebies I wanted.  I never heard back but the book was accepted and marked mailed quickly. I hope they included the freebies I asked for.  I have a lot of credits but I probably wouldn't have ordered the book I did if not for the deal.

IMHO, if one is going to offer a deal in the BB, they need to check in regularly in order to follow thru.  One time I waited about a day for a response.  It was a guy, and I figured guys don't check in like we do, so I wasn't actually worried about it.  If it had gone on for longer, I may have had second thoughts tho.  In your place, I would have cancelled too.

Did you reply via the forum or in a PM?  I know I check my PM a lot more often than I check in on the forums. If I want a response from an offer in a forum, I always ask for a PM, but people don't always do that.

I offered a deal in the BB yesterday.  I had someone PM w/the book they ordered and the freebies they want. Then the book was never ordered. I PM'd them back. I'm not removing the other books and losing my place in the fifo line. Also if someone else wants a deal I want the books on my shelf. I don't know what happened that her order didn't go through.

Mary - I wonder if she clicked on the description title and ordered from that page instead of your actual shelf? Then who knows who she ordered from! And I dont' blame you for not pulling books until the one book is ordered. If I don't see the order has come through or see the exclamation point next to the book on my bookshelf then I don't pull either.

Denise - I both PM'd her my choices and put a message on the deal thread. IMHO, if someone puts a deal on the forum they need to be checking the forums as much as they check PM's. Even though in my last deal I stated I wanted a PM and to post on the forum for choices I still got some who just sent me a PM and some who just posted to the forum. You really have to check both if you've offered a deal.

I don't often offer deals in the BB (cuz I don't have a lot of books), but when I do, I always state to both PM me and post in the thread.  I also check back regularly.

When I do a deal in the BB, I state that they MUST PM ME in order to get the deal.

I work full time, so when I get home, it might be 8pm before I get online, and I check my account page first, then, if I have the time, I check the postings in the bazzar.  I always thought it was common sense to send a PM, but once when I was doing a deal, I had 2 orders from one person, there was no PM from them, and no posting in the bazzar.

When they got their books, I got a PM "Didn't you have a 2-fer in the Bazaar"?  If I get no PM from you, and/or no posting in the thread, how am I to know you are ordering because of the deal in the bazaar?  The person simply ordered 2 books from my shelf, not order 1, and pm the title of the 2nd.

Melissa - sounds like they might have been a tad confused! But yeah, it amazes me how often people don't do both or don't follow the instructions.

I haven't had a whole lot of luck with deals in the Bazaar.   Sorry that happened and you didn't hear back.

It might be a mistake.  I know that one time I had a deal going that got about 5 orders all at once.  There was one person I forgot to email to say that I accepted the deal.  She emailed me a few days later just to check... and I was able to let her know that all her books and freebies were one the way.  You might want to PM the person to see if they will fulfill your order... just in case something sidetracked them.
