I received a book that I didn't order when the shipper mixed up the labels.  I marked the book received with a problem and sent the pm.  As it turns out, the book I got was also on my wish list.  I have agreed to just keep the one I got, and reorder the original book.  Now, how do I mark the problem resolved without marking that I received the original ordered book?  I have looked in the transaction archive but the transaction isn't there.  The only option I am given right now is to say I got the original book.  What should I do?

There are several things you could do, not sure if any of them are the right or only way to resolve the problem, but here are a couple of suggestions:

1.  See if the original sender has contacted the person who got the book you ordered and if she'll send (buddy) a credit to the other person and ask them if they'll post the book to you for the additional credit.  If both parties are amenable to that, then when the book arrives just mark it appropriately.

2.  Contact TPTB to see if they can leave you on the list for the book you didn't receive so that you don't go to the bottom.  (Don't know if this is appropriate, but they can only tell you they don't get involved).

3.  Be sure to take yourself off the WL for the book you did receive.

Good luck.  Pat

Not sure how to solve the situation as it now stands.  The sender will probably have to contact TPTB, there's not much either of you can do at this point that will not loose your place FIFO for the wishlist book not received.

But some advice for future transactions, if you do not receive the book you ordered do NOT mark it received at all.  The book will eventually go lost and your credit automatically returned.  This only applies to receiving incorrect titles, if you merely receive an incorrect binding or edition of the title-  it must be marked received (with a problem). If the transaction had been done in this manner, you would merely transfer/buddy a credit for the book you received (and decided to keep) and let the other transaction go 'lost'.

Congrats on receiving a wishlist book, lol!

I guess I didn't explain well.  The book I received was wishlisted, but the one I originally ordered was not - there are more copies in the system.  I don't need a credit back because I am keeping the one she sent.  I just want to clear the transaction as I am satisfied with the solution.

You could mark it RWAP by Mistake or Resolved.

Now, how do I mark the problem resolved without marking that I received the original ordered book?

I think you mentioned above that you already marked the book RWAP. Once you mark a book received, you cannot undo it. Like Rebecca suggested, you can either mark it RWAP by mistake or mark the problem resolved.

What the options mean (from Help Docs)

  • Sender resolved the problem means the swap does not need to be resolved further
  • Marked as problem swap in error means that you made a mistake when you marked it as a problem swap
    • Choose this option if there was actually no problem with the transaction

Once you choose either of these options, then you can re-order the book you originally requested.

DG, that is exactly what I want to do, mark that the sender resolved the problem.  But, I cannot find a way to do that.  The page only gives me the option to mark the originally ordered book received.  It doesn't show me any other option.

The help docs say to access the transaction from the transaction archive, but it doesn't show up there, even on "all transactions" setting.

So...the transaction was showing up on your account page and you marked it RWAP.  But now you want to mark it 'resolved' and cannot find the transaction in your archive?

Hmmm...any chance the sender requested TPTB cancel the transaction?  But I would think it would still appear, just be noted as cancelled.

When you mark it a received - wrong book, wrong title, you really aren't marking it as "received", it just goes back to your active tab to wait for you to receive the correct book. The ONLY way you will be able to mark it resolved is to mark that you received the book, otherwise it wouldn't be resolved. If you leave the transaction sit, it will eventually go lost and it will be returned to your WL or the sender can ask for it to be cancelled, but I don't think you will be able to mark it a resolved if the site cancels it. If it goes lost, you would still need to mark it received (and not selecting wrong book, wrong title)  to mark it resolved and marking it received will give the sender who didn't send you the book will give them the credit.

I don't see any reason to want to mark this as resolved. The sender isn't doing anything to resolve the problem they caused. I would send them a PM asking them to request through Feedback that the transaction be cancelled because they mixed up the books and aren't going to fix it so you can get back on the wish list line.

Denise, yes.  I marked it RWAP, stated wrong title received.  It went back to the active transactions waiting for receipt, and doesn't show on the transaction archive.  It is still on my active transactions page.

Thanks, Melanie, but I offered to the sender this solution.  The original book I ordered wasn't wishlisted so there isn't a problem with getting back in line for me.  The wrong book is the one wishlisted for me, so in effect, I moved up in line for that book and can reorder another copy of the original book.  I feel like I came out the winner here.  Thanks for the clarification on what the reasons do.

I guess I will just have to mark that I received the original book in good condition because I am satisfied with the solution.  I just wanted to be sure I didn't penalize the sender for an honest mistake anyone including me could have made.  Especially when it turned out well for me.
