I just got a mass market paperback in the mail. It looks fine, and totally readable. I noticed that where there are usually a couple of pages with quotes and book reviews, that page or pages has been ripped out of the book. How would you mark this book? Is it RWAP because one or a few "filler" pages were torn out in a way you can barely see? Most people would never even notice. I only saw what had happened because there was a little jagged edge.

This is a toughie.  The help center says:  No loose or missing text pages.  I think that when they say "text" pages, they are referring to pages of the book that contain the story.  Your pages are technically pages that contain text, but the pages aren't part tof the story.  I am leaning towards NOT marking received with a problem.  But others might have a different opinion.

I'm leaning that way too - but I'm interested in hearing a lot of opinions since I would ordinarily plan to repost this book after reading it.

I would also *not* mark it RWaP.  I think the word "text" has been added, in fact, although I don't know how recently.  I noticed it myself not long ago and thought "Hmm, that's new".  (new to me, anyway. ;-)

I think it's fine.  I'd take out that jagged edge, though, when you post it.  It's basically advertising in the front of the book to hook someone who picks it up in the store.

I asked the TPTB one time about that, someone had torn out the info on the author and TPTB said that while technically that is text, it isn't relevant to the story...or something along those lines...I vote don't mark it RWAP.

I concur, the pages are unimportant and not germaine to the story.  Doesn't matter if they're there or not.  Wouldn't be a problem for me.

I'm going to toss out a dissenting vote here.  When I order a book, I expect to receive the entire book and that includes those unimportant pages, so if I received one with missing pages, I'd be irritated.  Maybe those reviews are important to me for some reason.  Maybe the dedication page has personal meaning.  There are any number of reasons someone might miss those unimportant pages.  If TPTB have decided it's not a RWAP situation, then I'd probably let it go, but I wouldn't like it. Just my two cents.
