Delivery Confirmation purchased at the Post Office is 80 cents. If you use the electronic delivery confirmation, the Post Office charges 19 cents.

There is no credit guarantee when you buy DC from anywhere but PBS. So if you are paying the PO for DC for PBS books it's a waste of money.  Plus it's cheaper through PBS.

What Mary said!  .80 at USPS with no PBS guarantees.  PBS charges .27 processing fee,  with an additional .19 charged with the postage.

I wonder why the PO charges .80 and when I print postage from Paypal, it only charges .19.  That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Supposedly Kate, it has something to do with the standardized and barcoded shipping labels generated by Paypal, PBS, E-bay, and other electronic postage print options.  Cheaper and easier for USPS to sort and handle.

They work out deals with sites like Paypal and PBS that like Denise says had to do with the label design, volume and such.  That's why changing a label with printed postage can cause problems.

Ah, I knew something wasn't right when I mailed my last book out. I used PBS DC but the clerk still charged me 80 cents. That's what I get for going to a satellite office staffed by supermarket clerks instead of the Post Office downtown. Lesson learned!
