$1,318.50!

I think they must base that on the original retail price of the books received. Of course, they don't take into account the value of books I've shipped or the cost of shipping them!

$1,246.50 since 3/24/08 :) I have really saved A lot more than that because I have to buy all my books new since the UBS has little romance selection.  I have yet to check out goodwill , it is kind of sketchy so I am scared to go alone :)

$2,367.00,   I seem to remember seeing something that said they calculate that at $4 per book x your books received, but divided by my books received, it comes out to $4.34.

Of course, they don't take into account the value of books I've shipped or the cost of shipping them!

Yeah, and I've sent 154 more books than I've received - not counting freebies.

$ 670.50     I kind of chuckle when I look at that number when I think of how often I'm visiting the APC & sliding my card through...  ;)

I don't know if they factor in Box-of-Books transactions into that total, though... the actual number of books I've sent out & received is actually much different than the number they have listed because of BOB and deals (Those 2 for 1 & 3 for 1's...)

According to PBS I have saved $382.50 but I don't think that is right.  I think PBS has cost me money not saved me.  Since joining PBS I have been introduced to many new authors and books.  Therefore I have bought some new books that I wouldn't have if not for PBS.  Also the money saved does not count the cost of sending books.  Most of the books I receive and send are for games and that is not taken into consideration when they calculate how much money I have saved.  I still like PBS even though they are costing me and not saving me any money.

I definitely agree with that!  IF I were to buy all of the books NEW that I've received on PBS, then yes, I have saved money.  But my knowledge and reading tastes have expanded exponentially since joining here and my reading habit has been taken to a whole new level!  LOL  There's no way I would even know about half of the books I've read if I wasn't posting on here, let alone actually purchase them!

BUT.... my dh is a smoker and if he can justify $6 a day for a nasty habit, then surely my reading habit is acceptable!  LOL

$1,989.00

but definitely ditto on the part where it's actually costing me money.  i used to get a large percentage of my books at the local UBS using credit from trading in other books - no cash involved.  now i have something like $700 in credit to that UBS sitting here (i still trade in my unpostables), and if i'm lucky i find one book a month there.  the other books were mostly bought using my Discover cashback bonus to get Borders gift cards, so again no real cash involved.  but every time i mail a book - and i've mailed over 600 and about 180 more than i've received - it costs $.  that doesn't even count the swap games.

not that i'm really objecting, since i've gotten *so* many good books through here, and discovered many new authors.  i definitely would not give up my PBS membership.  :)

I'm about the same as Ellen - and yeah, it's probably cost me a lot more than it's saved me. But it's been a lot of fun.

$1,624.50 (based on a used book price of $4.50)

And it has definitely cost me more than I have saved as well. I also still by from used book stores adn pay full price for some new. :)

Also being on here has made me aware of tons of great authors and I have been playing in way too many games, LOL!

I do love PBS though, and it helps feed my reading habit!
