I listed several books that are pretty old, early seventies or so, that have yellowed quite a bit, some are quite dark.  Otherwise these books are in very good shape especially for their age. Should I take them off my bookshelves because of the yellowing factor?

Nope - yellowing is perfectly okay as long as the books are not otherwise excessively worn.  You may occasionally run into a person who will put "no yellowing pages" in their requestor conditions and you'll just have to turn them down.  But otherwise, I think people expect this with older books.

I don't mind yellowed books like that at all if it means I can find a copy of an older book I have been looking for!

I have some books on my shelf from the 1930's and they are yellowed.  I would hope people would know that these much older books sometimes yellow.  I once had an OOP book from the 1960's on my shelf and someone ordered it.  I PMed that the book was yellowed just for the heck of it and they turned it down saying they didn't understand it was that old.  (It's age was in the description that I typed in)  So some people don't like yellowed books, but don't have conditions about it.  It is allowed on PBS so I guess it was silly to PM the requester.

Thank you so much for the replies. I am pretty new so just getting used to things here.  I really wish I had found Paperback Swap a long time ago. I have given away hundreds of books, probably thousands over the years. I love this site!

I have some older books on my WL and I hope folks don't hesitate to post them because they are yellow - I'll take them however I can get them :)  Hopefully many people will read this thread and be encouraged to post their old books.  Thanks for the question!

I have posted lots of books from the 60s and 70s that were yellowed, and never had a problem.  Once I got RCs asking for no yellowing on a book that was 22 years old, and I politely declined.  Otherwise they've been fine.
