I had ordered a book from my reminder list, noting there were 2 copies in the system. I do have a no smoke RC and the sender sent me a PM noting he had a no smoking home but the book itself smelled of smoke from its previous reader. I cancelled the request. But how can I request the second copy of this same book? If I request again won't it go back to the same book that I just cancelled?

Marya, I think  Standard members can order multiple copies of the same book.  

This is what I would do :   Try ordering both books and then quickly see if I could cancel the first smokey book.  

Thanks for the suggestion, Valerie. The problem with requesting both is that I won't know which comes from the smokey book sender until both requests are accepted.

  Request the book again and ask the person with the smokey book to decline your RC.  Once they decline your RC your request will move to the next member with the book available.

The sender should have canceled the order (or more specifically declined it because it didn't meet your RCs); you shouldn't have canceled on your end. Then you could have ordered the other copy.
 

Maybe so but he did accept. I'm grateful he PMed me and gave me an out.

If you order both copies, then click on order more from member, you'll be able to see from whom you're ordering. You can then cancel the one you don't want to order from.

I took the chicken's way out. checked my reminder list at least once every day and waited until there was only 1 copy in the system and ordered that.
