If it hasn't been published yet then you just need to keep checking.  I think that's the only way.  Do you have the ISBN?  If an ISBN has been issued than it'll most likely turn up soon. Sometimes WL lines start for books months or even yrs before they're out because an ISBN is issued and it gets into the system. I think they take they're info from Amazon but I'm not sure.  If there's an ISBN out, you could try contacting PBS and asking when it might be added.  I don't know how long it'll take them to get back to you. 

I know I find a lot of upcoming releases by searching on Amazon.  You can have it sort by release date and see what's coming up for years to come.  Most of the time if they have an ISBN listed, it's already in here.

If it comes up with the ISBN and you can see the book in the PBS system but you can't order the book than that means no one has the book to send.  It should give you the option to add it to your WL. Then you have to wait for someone to post the book.  It should say under the binding/#of pages info Members Wishing #.  Whatever # is there is how many other people are looking for the book.

Yep, frequently the only way to find these is through the ISBN, don't know why.  But I always forget, and have to go through the same steps you did!

If you are interested in knowing what books are going to be coming soon...go to the site listed below and search under the name of the author.  I've found many books that way. I was surprised that a book from an old series I read long ago was being revived with new books - I guess in a new trilogy.  I only know of 2 of the new ones because ot that site.  I was able to get it.  I'm on several WL's for other "soon to be released" books and some are already long!  Hope this helps.

What book is it?

If you have a title of a book and the author but not the ISBN, you can go to www.fantasticfiction, look up the author, find the the book under the author, click and it will bring up a bunch of used books for sale at different places around the country.  There's always an ISBN posted with each book.  Also at the bottom of that particular page will be all the ISBNs available for that book.  Copy them down (or just one) and post it to PBS. It will either show that the book is available, or you can then start or post it to your WL.

PBS utilizes an online database of some kind to find its books, so that even when a book has never been listed before, it does sometimes show up. Often, in fact--I have (many times) been the first person wishing for a yet-to-be released book, so obviously no one would have listed it yet! It just all depends on when the database that PBS uses has that book's ISBN as being available.

Remember if you're using Fantastic Fiction that it is a UK-based website and often times the ISBN listed there does NOT work at PBS...or at Amazon, unless you're searching Amazon.co.uk....it makes no sense to me at all, as the I in ISBN stands for "INTERNATIONAL" so you would think that one number could be used for the same book everywhere in the world, but it doesn't work that way because some books have different publishers in different countries and sometimes they just never become available in that version here. Sometimes you have to wait for the US release of a book for it to be available in the PBS database. Best advice is to just keep checking--or at least check Amazon...usually if it's available on Amazon, even for pre-order, it will be listed in PBS's database too.

I physically have a book, a title and and ISBN number that I can not find online anywhere.  Amazon doesn't have it, it doesn't exist on PBS. *sigh* There is a PB version in the system with numerous wishers but there doesn't seem to be a HB version in existence.  Of course, that's what I have is a HB.  It is not an ARC but it did come from a book club.   I would like to put it on my TBR list so that when I'm done I can post it but I really don't want to post it as a book with no ISBN since it has one.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Linda, I'd love the book!  but here is how you do it (I just learned this a few weeks ago)

Use the Post Books tab

put in the ISBN and then click on the check button. 

It will bring up a page that lets you enter in all of the information.  Do that and then hit save (or whatever ) and the ISBN will be available for you to add it to your TBR stack

If you can find the ISBN on Amazon, put it into the search box here and that'll get the book into the PBS system so you can be #1 on the WL.
