I'm sure it's incredible easy but I cannot get the stars to stick.  Do I have to write a review to give a star rating?  I just want to put some things on various lists.  I want to have some titles on my bookshelf on Hold.  I forgot how to do that too.

I've never actually looked at that list.

It made me either delete or rate over 200 books before I could see the list.  I deleted most since I don't even remember them.  To rate them, just hover over the stars and click on them.  They'll turn from blue to yellow.  Once you finish with all of that, you can see the list.

Sarah,  I must not be hovering the correct way.  I found if I rate from my bookshelf then the stars stick.

What's weird is,  some went from my TBR to my BIR and some just disappeared.  I had to go to my bookshelf and rate them again, then they showed up on my BIR.

Also I had a book on my TBR that I bought myself. I rated it and it disappeared.  I can re-enter with ISBN.

I don't really care about having books on my BIR but I'm trying to group books for a deal.  Maybe I'm using the lists wrong. Maybe I need the reminder list.

Okay maybe it's better to keep books on the TBR because you can post from there.  You cannot post from BIR.  Well if you click on the title you can post from the details page. I just noticed the book lists tab, that's like another universe.  I need to research the lists.

I figured out how to make a book list.  It's a very useful feature! I wonder why we don't have the option of a private list.

I found out a shortcut when creating book lists.

You can add to a current book list from your bookshelf, TBR or BIR.

From the book details page click "Add to Current Book List" button.

To make the list you want to use "current" go to that list and click the "Edit List" button.  If you create a new list and that will be the current list.

You manually enter Keyword/ ISBN for books NOT on your bookshelf, TBR or BIR.

If you want a Personal List choose "closed" list option when creating the list.

A closed list means no one but the creator can add/delete books and no one can vote on the books.  They can vote on the list but not the books.

LOL, Valerie!  Kudos to you for sticking with it until you figured it out.  I don't use the book lists (only some on reminder), so I couldn't help you out, but I've been watching your progress.  yes

Yes, I was like a mad scientist trying to figure it out.  I like that all my transactions and lists show up on the book details page.  It gives me at a glance reference and clickable links. That's cool!

To improve our service, we've combined some functionality of the Books I've Read list and the Books Ratings lists. Moving forward, any book you rate will automatically be placed on your BIR list. In places where you would have seen a button to add something to your BIR list, you'll now be given an opportunity to rate that item. Finally, it is now possible to post a book on your Bookshelf without adding it to your BIR list.

We are doing this to improve the data on the reading habits and preferences of our users, which will in turn allow us to provide better recommendations to you. To finish our conversion, we ask that you take a few moments to update your old BIR list with ratings so that it fits in with the new data. If you didn't read one of the books on the list, simply press the "Delete from Books I've Read" button.

It will be necessary to rate (or remove) all items below in order to have access to your BIR list. We know this may mean a lot of star-rating for some of you, but it only takes a second to star-rate an item, and it is really, really useful to the club!

Thanks,
The PaperBackSwap Team

Thanks for the info Charles.

I just rated a book on my bookshelf.

Rating the book caused it to go on my BIR list.

I did not want it there so I deleted from my BIR list.

I noticed it also removed my star rating.
