Charles, there are a few ways to send books to friends.  The method that is best for a particular situation depends upon whether you want a credit in exchange for the book and if book is Wish Listed or not.

If you want a credit and the book is on your friend's Wish List, go to your friend's Profile Page, click on Wish List, find the book on your friend's Wish list, and click "Post This Book."  On the next page which appears, there will be a light green box across from the ISBN box that states "You are posting this book to this member:  [member's name]"  This ensures you are posting the book to your friend rather than to the general PBS population.  The book transaction then continues as all others; your friend needs to accept the book, you accept the order and choose a mailing date, etc.

If you do not want a credit for the book and/or the book is not Wish Listed (copies are available at PBS), go to the PBS page for the book, click "More Options" (third option under the "Buy from Amazon" link) and choose "Mail-to-a-friend" (last option on submenu).  Type the mailing information (name, street address, city, state, zip code) for your friend and handle the transaction like all others (print wrapper, mark it mailed, etc.)

Other members will probably have additional advice to share.  These are the methods I use frequently.

thanks. the book I was thinking of sending is wish listed. I'm really uncertain about it because it has been wet sometime in its history. I read it and it is okay to read but it has wavy pages in the bottom margins of the entire book.

Since it's got water damage it can't be posted through the system even friend-to-friend. If you want a credit for it you should PM the friend and have them buddy you a credit for it.

I don't know how to find somebody wishing for the book. I enjoyed the book. there are 50 people wishing for it now but I guess I'll take it to half price books along with some other stuff.

You can offer it in the Book Bazaar, explaining the damage. But the system hides who is WL the book so you won't be able offer it directly to people on that list.

Without actually posting it, if you click on the 'post this book' tab/button to begin the posting process, there is a green drop down box that will tell you if any friends have it WL. If there are you can back out of the process and send them a PM asking if they want it, the damage, request a credit, etc.
