I have all of my wish list books on auto. and my shelf is on hold.  I was offered this book

Falling Home :: Karen White  which means I was number one on the list.  Since my shelf is on hold and my wish list is auto. Of course the person never followed through with the deal. I just checked and now I am number 40 how did this happen.  Since my shelf is on hold no one can post to my wish list books so I had to be number 1.  Also how can someone post a book that is on auto which means it goes through right away, and then never do anything else to complete the deal.  So upsetting  LOL

Should have said her shelf is still open and so are her wish list books.

You getting the offer doesn't necessarily mean you were #1, you can get offers in other places through FIFO when the people in front of you are on Hold or have RCs turned down though #40 seems a bit far back in the line for that to happen.

How long was your shelf on Hold? If you'd just put it on Vacation recently is it possible the book had been posted to you and was just in the 1hr buyer's remorse period already when you went on hold?

If you want to know the real answer to what happened, you'd have to ask the Team, they are the only ones that can look at the system activity to find out.

It was offered to me while my shelf was on hold. I do not get the 1 hour remorse thing since all my books are on auto request.

I would think I would go back to number 1 since thats where I had to be in order to get the book.

I have no RC'S except about for Charlie Bones books that I want for my grandson.

You weren't necessarily #1, but it seems unlikely that you were #40. Is it possible that you were offered a different ISBN of the same book and you're higher in the list for that book? If not, you might want to ask the PBS Team if they can tell what happened.

Same ISBN and it's the only book listed it is a paperback.  I do have someone trying to help me with this, hopefully she can find out something.

Books on autorequest still get the 1hr buyers remorse hold.  I'm not sure why since I don't think the wisher can cancel it until it shows up as a request.

Mary,

I was told that if a book was on auto request,  and you had the credit to cover the book, it would be not have the hold on it.

Bertie--I've seen auto request books go into the one hour hold period before the order is actually placed.  Like Mary, I don't know why this is, because it stands to reason if you have a book on auto request you definitely want it--and it's likely you wouldn't even know the book was on one hour hold until the hour was up.  The only reason I can figure for the one hour hold is that it makes programming easier for the site.

the one hour has nothing to do with it any way. LOL  The person just never got around to doing anything with the transaction at all. So of course it expired and now for some reason I am number 40 instead of number 1.  That's what I am trying to figure out, how I went from 1 to 40

Yes, I had it backwards, you as the requester will see it for one hour and could cancel during the remorse period, its the sender who does not see the request so, even though you do get the 1hr buyer's remorse on AR, it doesn't matter here.

how I went from 1 to 40

You weren't  #1 is the most likely answer. #40 seems a long way out there, but I know I've seen offers to people as far back as 17th because of RCs and holds. Your shelf being on Vacation Hold doesn't make it that you can only get offers from the #1 position, it just means that no one can post to you directly. You can and will get offers through FIFO in spots other than #1. I have a bunch of books I am #1 for on hold sp #2 or later will get the offer when the book is posted. If it times out they won't get moved in front of me to #1, they will go back to where they were before.

The Team will be the only ones who can tell you what happened. Hhave you send in Feedback via  the Contact Us link? Asking someone in Live Help will only get you an opinion or it will take some time if they ask the Team for you because the Team has to do more digging to find out who the TG is talking about, it is best to send specific account activity questions to the Team directly.

I second what was said above -- please contact the team and send them feedback with all the details.  They can look at what happened and fix it if there was an error.

You'll find the contact us link just below, at the bottom of this or any page here, under "Company."  Be sure to use the Feedback option.

Bertie - be sure to check your email since the team responds through email not PM.  It usually takes 1-2 business days for them to respond, so if you sent in Feedback on Thursday, you should hear from someone today.

Ok I did get an answer deleted it LOL so I can't paste it , but it said something like this.  There was an error and you were really number 40 but the book got posted to you anyway.  I am still thinking about it  LOL go from 40 to 1 and then back to 40 Ok I can see that happening ( maybe)

its the sender who does not see the request

Actually, the sender may see the request. If you post a book and it's wishlisted, you will have a "hold" on your main account page. And auto request books have a one hour buyers remorse period. The system sends them a message that the book is posted and that they hae one hour from the time of the message to change their mind. One hour isn't that long -- I often post books late at night -- so if I post an auto-request book, there's a good chance the requestor is asleep and won't get the request until it's too late.

What I hate is when someone has a book wishlisted, I post it and they don't accept it (usually the request expires) and then it moves on to another person, who does the same thing. (Yes, I've had a book end up with the third person it was offered to. (THat's a lucky person -- because my books are in great condition.cheeky)
