First novel by Kiran Desai - beautiful writing, loose flowing story.

A very interesting book with an intriguing story and look into Indian life. This was a quick read that was different from what I usually choose but enjoyable all the same.

Very enjoyable, funny, unusual story of a young man who achieves notoriety by leaving home and moving into a tree in an abandoned guava orchard. If you like Indian authors, you'll like this!

This is a quick read. A story of eccentric behavior and comic situations. It really lacks substance and the characters and comic situations aren't strong enough. The ending was quite disappointing.

This was an entertaining story with a comic theme and descriptive writing, but the ending was so abrupt I thought my book was missing pages at the end (it wasn't).

Story lines could be interesting, but none are followed through. Characters could be interesting, but none are developed. Left me scratching my head, but not pining for more.

**SPOILER ALERT**

A man turns into a guava. The End.

Honestly, this book didn't make any sense. I didn't understand the plot or what point the author was trying to make. I only finished the book in case there was some revelation at the end. There wasn't.
