The Human Animal: The Mystery of Man's Behavior
The Human Animal The Mystery of Man's Behavior Author:Hans Hass Human relations to ancestors: Instinct;conditioning & genetics;freedom. — Part travelogue around the world, using special camera techniques. — Tools or "artificial organs" are what sets man apart[--their misuse especially?--reviewer's comment]. Hans Hass believes that tool use/abuse has resulted in the creation of what I,this reviewer, will call a F... more »rankenstein being, which Hass considers as a new subkingdom of animal[since 100,000 or 75,000 years ago?],no more related to mammals than, say, insects or sea stars are related to mammals;I say that humans have made themselves almost totally unrelated to anything really real/healthy.
This reviewer on PBSwap posits a name for this [anti-]subkingdom: Snamuh--"Humans" spelled backwards---and suggests that snamuh might consider rejoining healthy reality instead of increasing the ill-logical idea-attitude of accelerated, sickening twisting,runamuck,for-the-hell-of-it, because-I-can, lie of extra-specialism and general negativity.
One could make a strong case that snamuh have renounced, not only their mammalian & vertebrate status but even their animal status & become mere "antis",not just anti-animal but anti-universe;but as even minor criminals can "justify" their deeds, ever how harmful,so snamuh in general often[usually?]refuse to be responsible & repent.
At the end of the book Hass pointedly notes that tools can,and have, become masters, and their creators, the snamuhs, their slaves[Hass uses the word "servant"]. In this context he strongly advises that words[I would say "idea-attitudes"]easily mislead[bad traditions/habits] unless we are more thoughtful/friendly.
"Love" is not in the index but healthy, real philosophy, the wisdom of love[not merely the love of wisdom] tells us that the beauty, truth, faith, law,et al are either love or runamuck idea-attitudes.
The truth of love, the law of love, the faith of love, the beauty of love is the really real world.« less
