I recently read Celia Rivenbark's "We're just like you only prettier" and realized that I don't read enough humorous books. I have all of Rivenbark's on the way or wishlisted but would like other suggestions. Anyone? |

Just FYI, I think Stop Dressing Your Six-Year-Old Like a Skank is far superior to Rivenbark's other books! Read that one first! I don't read a lot of humor authors. I love the Sweet Potato Queens books, they always make me laugh out loud. |

Susan Reinhart's Not Tonight, Honey. Wait 'til I'm a size six. I've had her next book WL'd forever! And this one took a long time a coming to me. I really enjoyed it. Florence King's Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady. Julia Reed's Queen of the Turtle Derby and Other Southern Phenomena. I think this kind of book is a hoot. So I don't relist them. Good for when you are feeling lower than a nursing possum's nipples. Last Edited on: 7/3/08 7:20 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I love Celia Rivenbark too! David Sedaris is hilarious. A.J. Jacobs' books are laugh-out-loud funny as well, though not traditional humor writing. My all-time favorite is Lewis Grizzard. I laugh till it hurts. |

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone even though I don't think I've ever actually been "lower than a nursing possum's nipples" (thanks for that visual Bonnie:) |

She makes me spit diet coke out my nose. I love her! *lol* Laurie Notarvo (sp?) -She is quite funny as well. Jen Lancaster makes me laugh out loud, alone, and makes people stare at me. |
