My daughter loved it but was mad because again the ending leaves you hanging for the next one.

I bought it for my daughter, but I haven't given it to her yet.

I really liked the other 4 so I jumped right out and got this one as soon as it became available. Such a waste of my money. I HATED this book!

I had to FORCE myself to finish it. The first 100+ pages are just basically a recap of the first 4 books. Which is my biggest pet peeve!

The rest of the pages are a combo of the following:

"Zoey" trying to convince the reader/herself? that she's not a giant slut puppy for wanting all these guys, which starting annoying me in the 4th book.

Big bad God thing trying to sleep with Zoey.

Nef. acting like a pro.

I'm trying to think if anything else happens but, nope, not really. Did Kristin write this book on her own?!

At some point I fully expect the Casts to have Zoey wanting to get busy with a ravenmocker. Someone will have to brief me on it though because I am NEVER buying another book written by these two.

I thought it was good. Not as good as the others but still good. I thought that the authors could have made it a little longer and left out some of the rambling. I wonder if they were pressed for time when they wrote this one, that would explain a lot.  I still really like the series and will buy the next one when it comes out, hoping that it will be as good as the others.

IMHO this book was nowhere near as good as the first 4.  I agree with Hope that Zoey and all of her boy toys are getting very annoying.  This book almost seems like maybe Kristin wrote a good portion of it because it just didn't seem to move like the other 4 and it seemed to me more "young adultish" than the other 4 also.  This one moved slow, was not as exciting and did not have the "kept you on the edge of your seat so that you couldn't wait to find out what happens" moments.  I think the time period in the whole book was only several days and of course the ending leaves you hanging.  There were several unanswered questions also but I won't go into that since you haven't read it.  Overall, I didn't care for this book as much as the other 4.

I think I will wait on getting book 5 and see if I want it after the first 2 or 3.

I loved the first 4, and while I didn't think book 5 was a good, I still really liked it.

I am tired of Zoey's love square though....

I was really looking forward to it because like so many others I really loved the first 4 - but it was definitely a let-down for all the reasons people have said, plus I felt like the "mystery" that had to be solved at the end was solved too quickly, probably because the book was just getting too long.

I keep wanting to buy it because I loved the first 4 but I think I'll wait for it to come up on my wish list. I just finished Evernight by Claudia Gray. Very similar to the House of Night books and has a sequel that just came out. I really liked it and look forward to reading the next one.

I just got this one from PBS today...I have the other four but haven't started them yet--so I can enjoy four of them and become irritated by the fifth...good to have that info going into it:lol:   It's tough now that everything is a series--you want to go the distance but it is hard when some of the parts don't measure up.

Off topic--sorry--I finally saw Twilight.  OK--this might just be me because I'm a smidge weird but did Bella remind anyone else of Mary Catherine Gallager (Saturday Night Live character--Catholic schoolgirl who is a nerd/spazz and the movie Superstar)?   I kept thinking that through the whole movie--she even spoke in the same flat monotone voice:lol:  Made it really hard to accept her as a romantic heroine.  I haven't read the book yet but I'm hoping there is a lot more to it than what the movie portrayed--seems like an awfully thick book to only produce that movie.   Sorry for the little hijack there!

Marie,

Nef. acting like a pro. = Neferet acting like a prostitute.

That's all her character ever does is trade her body for power.

Someone is welcome to post it to me if they don't like it. Or just post into the system so I can move up in the line.

Donna, I cannot stand the actress of plays Bella. The movie would be 10 times better if that had someone else.

i'd been saving this, and finally read it.

Zoey's love life is definitely getting old.  pick someone and stick to it!

i was seriously annoyed that it was halfway through the book - and i checked the page count and it's almost exactly in the middle - before Zoey finally went back to the House of Night.

then of course the recappng that lasted way too long, and the sort of non-ending ending.

i still liked it, but i didn't love this one and it has some definite issues.

I think this is a perfect example of an author rushing to get the next book out.  It was WAY too rushed.  I think it actually only covered a 3 or 4 day span.  I'm also getting tired of Zoey's many loves.  I had to force myself to read this and only read it as quick as I did because a friend loaned it to me.  I had no intention of buying it based on all the bad reviews.

Here's hoping the author takes a little more time for the next one....and Zoey picks a guy already!

I agree with the majority here; the first 4 were awesome, this one not so much.  I loved it because I Loved the first 4, but I was disappointed. I sure hope book #6 (10/27/09)  picks up the speed again.
