The Hunting Wind - Alex McKnight, Bk 3 Author:Steve Hamilton In the remote, wintry reaches of Michigan's upper Peninsula, it's hard for a man to remember what springtime is like, let alone Spring Training. But when a former teammate tracks him down, erstwhile minor league player Alex McKnight is instantly transported back to the good old Toledo dugout, circa 1971. The more Steve Hamilton I read, the more I like. Alex McKnight has grown into a fantastic private eye character over the past 3 novels, with plenty of room for future growth. This novel wasn't as dark as the first two, perhaps because it took place in April and much of it in southern Michigan. I've driven the road from Grand Rapids to Detroit a few times and it was interesting to read and know the area. I can see this series being a huge hit for Michigan-ites, even if they're not yoopers.
Excellent book. A great mystery/thriller without all the romance that so many have. Part of a great series! But you don't have to read all of them to enjoy one!

This is the third in the Alex McKnight series. McKnight is a retired cop living in Michigan's upper peninsula, who keeps finding himself getting pulled into mysterious capers. A very good series, and I highly recommend "A Cold Day in Paradise," the first book in the series.
Third book in a series starring Alex McKnight, a former police officer wounded in the line of duty. This is another page turner and I find myself getting quite attached to the main character who is a bit screwed up but has a very good heart. Highly recommended, but should be read in order.
