I just started the Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series and am halfway through the first book ( A Hunger Like No Other)...and my feelings are "EH"

Does it get better?  Is it worth finishing?

I wouldn't say bored...I would say I don't like how the main character forces himself on Emma from the start...turned me off to the story.  But it did just start getting interesting with her aunts...

I liked the first book much more than most of the rest of the books.  I think I liked the primal element of the hero and at the time the book was released that sort of hero wasn't the norm.   Now so many heroes are the "ultimate alphas" that it doesn't hold the same wow factor that it may have had you read it upon the release date.

The valkyries are definitely interesting and recurring in the series so that keeps it fun.

It's not my favorite series, but yes I think they do get better.

I felt like Donna did about the first one, but not all of the characters are like that by any means. It's a series I really enjoy, but it has its ups and downs.  For me, the high point is Dark Desires After Dusk.  My least favorite ones are the vampire books, because I tend to find the vand the vampires in this world dull.  I am, however looking forward to Lothaire (the book due soon), because he is one of the few interesting vampires.

I gotta be honest and say that the first book is prob one of my least fave of the series. I thought the same thing while reading it. The series gets sooooo much better though!

LOL Maria

Ok, finished book 1 and glad I did.  The second half was soooo much better then first half.  I am going to read the next one but not just yet...  Started Never Again Wizards of Nevermore this morning and already like the writing better.

The first book is one of my favorites from the series.  I know the hero comes on very strong, but he gets better by the end.  Pleasures of a Dark Prince, which is the story of the younger brother of the hero in the first book, is my favorite Immortals After Dark book.  Garreth is just as alpha as the older brother, but he doesn't come off as harshly.
IAD is one of my favorite paranormal series, but some of the books aren't as good as the others.

Yes he def got better...I found him unlikable and unworthy in the first half of book 1
